Should I just pay the $100 insurance?Support

    You possibly read my 1st post. I have some urine damage to my phone. yea.....i'm a damn idiot. That was saturday night. It wouldnt come on sunday at all. Monday, it came on but completely drained each battery that i would put in and not charge, (but said it was charging). So yesterday, tuesday, i took the back screws off, and put all the pieces in to a tubberware of rice. i am planning on leaving it in there for a few days. Am i too late? i hope not. I'm stuck with a 4 year old HTC TOUCH!!! WINDOWS!!!! Needless to say, ITS HORRIBLE. Suggestions? BTW, i have until January of 2012 for full upgrade. yea......

    Well, you tell me. My wife and I are actually on her parents' plan because it was cheaper for all parties. I was added Jan '10. My wife has always been on their plan and her parents have been with Sprint for over 5 years. So I am sure her parents are but I am not sure about my wife and I. Does the premier status only cover the account holder or does it involve all parties on the plan?

    I believe that Premier status only covers early upgrades for the primary line.

    As far as the $100, that only applies if you are also paying the $7 per month for the insurance (which I assume you have, but you didn't mention)...

    If I were in your situation, I woud pay the $100.

    I agree with this ^^^ But before I paid the $100...

    Since the phone seems to be toast at this point anyway, I would dunk it in clear water..get it good and wet...to try to get the urine all out. THEN I would bury it in rice for about 3 days...

    I have personally seen a phone recover from absolutely dead, with a scrambled touch screen (dropped in a wet and slighlty muddy puddle at the curb and left for 8 hours)... by using this procedure. I was amazed. BE SURE TO TAKE THE BATTERY OUT.

    Not sayng who's phone it was, but it wasn't mine. :p

    Bought the hero from the sprint store in jan '10

    I have the $7 insurance so i can get a replacement. It just sucks having to pay $100 for a phone when you pay for the insurance.

    I am going to wait out another day or two and see if the rice does the trick. I am guessing no, since i waited until Tuesday to do it when it happen early sunday morning. But who knows, i might get lucky.

    So you're saying put the phone back together and take it out of the rice. Dunk it into a glass of water (how long), then take it back apart and put it into the rice again for about 3 days?

    If your an add on to someone elses account then no, your not a premier member. Since you have over a year for an upgrade I'd just pay the $100 for a new one. I highly doubt you can bring it back from the dead. ;)

    the rice deal isnt gonna work much for you. unfortunately the dammage is done, as you tried turning it on already. In the future, if it gets wet, give it the rice treatment immediately with the battery out. Also, you can throw it in the oven on around 100F for a bit as well to help get some of the moisture out.
