I'm in the situation if where its already too late to return my incredible. I know right now I can probably sell the incredible for easily around 500 due to there being a shortage right now. How much do you guys honestly think the prices of incredibles will drop after the dx is released? Don't wanna be stuck with a dumb phone while I wait for the dx but at the same time I'm worried the price of my incredible might drop drastically when the dx is released. I still like my incredible but I think the dx fits my needs more.

Over in the Incredible thread people are saying with the Incredible they are giving you 60 days, so you should be able to return it.

I just read that also, I guess I could just use an old verizon phone to hold me over until I'd get the X. ;)

Interesting. However I did the math and I would actually be making money if I actually sell my incredible because I'll be getting the dx at a subsidized price with another line (i got my di for less than 125, probably get the dx for the same)

If you got ur DI for 2yr pricing then I would def. sell it on ebay. You will make money on that exchange

Ya for sure I'm selling especially because I turned in my rebate already. Its more so a matter of when and how much you guys think the price of the incredible will drop when the dx arrives vs now

I'm thinking three weeks won't make a difference on the price of the Inc

It's well known by those that know, that the x will be out.
Even with that the inc is selling on ebay for over $600!!
To some the inc is perfect, the x is too big. So for those waiting to buy my x, I hope they will be ready in two weeks when I'll be putting mine up for sell :)

If you just sell your Incredible without completing your 2 year contract, won't Verizon hit you with an Early Termination Fee? Which is $350 on smartphones now?

Patiently/Impatiently waiting for the release of the Droid X!

That's good to know. It does seem like the general populace still sees the two phones as two different niches, unlike many of the forums who try to directly compare the two and harbors animosity towards the phone they ultimately decides against.

I think the early termination is for the contract. I am not canceling any of my contacts, simply transferring one upgrade to an existing line. I talked to my cell phone guy and he said it shouldn't be a problem at all. Vzw rep told me the same when I emailed them

Ditto. Just saw one sell for 485 on ebay that included a1750 seidio battery. I'm fine that because i would still come out with 200 bucks after everything was said and done

I'm not arguing with what you were told but, but if that was the case, what's to stop every Verizon customer from upgrading to the latest and greatest phone (at the subsidized price) every three months or every 32 days for that matter, and just transferring the new phone to their existing line?

When you bought the Inc from Verizon at the subsidized price, they make their money back by collecting payments from you for 20+ months. If you only make payments (on the Inc purchase) for a couple months, and then want the Droid X at the subsidized price, Verizon is not getting their 20+ payments on one of the phones.

I don't know if I'm explaining this satifactorily, but do any of you understand what I'm trying to say? I mean, if what gorenut is saying is true, Why couldn't I sell my Inc (for a profit) get a Droid X (at the subsidized price) 2 months later, sell my Droid X (for a profit) get a Droid 2 (at the subsidized price) and 2 months later, sell my Droid 2 (at a profit) get a new Droid "Viper" (at the subsidized price) all the while just transferring the new phones to my existing line? I could continue doing this "ad infinitum". Where is Verizons profit? Over the course of 20 months I could theoretically do this 10+ times and Verizon will have sold me 10+ phones (at the subsidized price) and hasn't collected on 1 completed 2 year contract yet.

Maybe gorenut has found a loophole... If he has, collect on it quick, cuz Verizon will slam the door shut on it quicker than a heartbeat!

Again, does anyone see my point? Or, see a flaw in my logic? Maybe I'm all wet.

All I know for sure is, I'm Patiently/Impatiently waiting for the release of the Droid X!

Ebay charges you a fee. I sold mine for 511 on ebay. Fee's in total came out to around 70$ including paypal fee.

    Im confused with your theory?

It sounds like gorenut is using an eligible upgrade on a different line that he owns and is then transferring the phone to his primary line. This isn't a loophole though, as he still has to pay the $10 per line/month. He is also still bound by his upgrade timeline meaning on the line he just used for the DX he will not be eligible for a new upgrade for another 20 months or so.

What you described cant be done without adding additional lines to your plan and for each additional line you will have to pay $10/month (2 year agreement = $240).

Dirk: I have a family plan where I am juggling four lines. One of my lines is due for an upgrade. I'm going to get the dx on that one and transferring to my incredible line. Selling incredible and using a spare on the dx line.

Oh, ok I see now what you're saying. I mistakenly thought you had a single line and were just transferring the X to where you had the Inc before.

Guess maybe I should have guessed that because I did that once when my wife & I had a family plan. I'd had my phone for about a year and my wifes phone was eligible for an upgrade, so I used her upgrade to get the phone I wanted and then switched the phones and numbers back around so we each had the phone we wanted and our same numbers.

My wife has since defected to AT&T for an iPhone along with my daughter. (traitors! but love their iPhones btw) So I'm all alone now with Verizon. The Droid X will be my first Android phone. I have an Omnia1 with WM 6.1 Pro now, and think it's great. I have no problems with it and it does most everything I need it to do. But I'm looking forward to getting the Droid X and then Android 2.2 when it comes out in August. (I hope) I heard that Google is activating over 160,000 Android phones every day now, and I truely think that sometime in the near future it will be the most widely used mobile OS in the world.... blowing past Apple and symbian.

Anyway, thanks again gorenut for straightening me out, I remain,

Patiently/Impatiently waiting for the release of the Droid X!

I put my DI on Craigslist (local) for $350 last Tuesday in the morning. Got immediate texts and phone calls, couldn't believe it! I stated clearly in the ad that I wouldn't release it until the upgrade came out (X) and I also said I would only do the sale at local VZW store where I could let them test it first and then buy it and get it switched all at the same time. No problem. Set your own price, the heck with the hassle on Ebay.

It was a new one. The cell guy I've gone to for the past 5+ years hooks me up with whatever extra rebates that he can pull. After all the various rebates, etc.. I really got my Inc closer to $100.

I was thinking the same thing. I recently sold my enV Touch on eBay and it was kind of a nightmare. For whatever reason the girl had trouble activating it and started accusing me of selling her a stolen phone. I assured her it wasn't stolen and I'd let her call/email me as often as she'd like until the problem was fixed - I also offered her a full refund if she wasn't satisfied. Eventually I got her to go to a VZW store as well as getting a VZW tech on 3way until they finally realized it was a problem with Verizon. I think they eventually sent her a new phone. Definitely not something I'd want to deal with again, and definitely don't like being called a thief repeatedly.

The only thing is, I wish I had jacked the price up a bit higher than $350...man these DI's are soaring in value out there. I would think a minimum of $400 firm up to $500 is entirely possible right now. VZW is now saying backorders on the DI will not hit until 7/26 !!!
