Well So I dont know if this is needed or wanted but I have taken Drellisdees files and mish mashed them to make this zip and renamed it.

What this does is Allows you to use either ClockWork or Aloha Recoveries to Flash this zip and then you will be at Stock Recovery for OTA update purposes, or what ever reason you would like to have Stock Recovery. (**EDIT** Even though it is named Signed clockwork you can still use it with Aloha. That was just poor naming on my part.**)

12-13-10(**EDIT** Ok I left out a step when your flashing signed clockwork to stock with Aloha. You must turn off the Verification when using this with it. This is not needed with Clock work when flashing with it though.**)

Again I did not write these files I did not create these files I just hodge podged them together. This is Drellisdee's Idealogy NOT MINE.
He Created them He gets the Credit and Glory. If you want to donate Donate to him.

I went ahead and made this a Thread because I have posted this in other places and has helped some people. Maybe this way It can help more people. I try to give back to the community where I can even if it is in small ways like this.

    **EDIT** 1/10/11
if you have Aloha-RA 1.2.5 recovery use these steps to make this zip work

    1. Boot into recovery
    2. Goto Flash Zip Menu
    3. Select Toggle signature verify
    4. Select Flash Zip from SD Card
    5. Select
    6. Press enter
    7. Turn off Phone
    8. Boot into recovery to check if it is now at stock recovery. (you should see little android with exclamation mark flash then it will boot into phone normally. If this happens you are at stock recovery.)**

All I ask is if my little hodge podge of his files helps you... Why dont you go down there hit that little Thanks button.

This might be a dumb question but can I get ota updates with this instead of using the stock rom

This is to flash the stock recovery img. This is not a stock rom. But yes if you have a stock rom and a custom recovery. You would flash this to get the stock recovery back to install OTA's.

Thats exactly Correct. Thank you Dots
This zip only deals with giving you your stock "Recovery" back.

    1. Make sure you have the Stock Rom
    2. Unroot your phone
    3. flash

Once you have done those three things then you can take an OTA update.

What do you need to wipe before flashing the stock recovery img?

Pretty sure that you don't need to wipe anything when flashing this recovery...I've done it before without wiping and it worked fine.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong

Nope you are exactly correct there is no need to wipe anything before flashing this zip. That is how Drelisdee designed it originally for his version. The version That flashes amonra.

So this basically,is like flashing a rom or a kernel without wiping.

Thank you SWC2001 for putting this together.

Yep...there is nothing special that you have to do to flash this recovery. No wiping is necessary...just boot into recovery and flash this recovery over either clockwork or amon ra and it will give you back your stock recovery.

    aloha = amonra?
  14. swc2001

    swc2001 Well-Known Member

Yes they are one and the same. You can use either name. Because both names are shortened versions of the full name.

I guess I just don't get it. How can you finish the process in clockwork recovery then reboot, if you just replaced clockwork with the stock recovery. Wouldn't there be a point at which you were operating on a recovery that doesn't exist anymore. I am very new to this stuff and can't wrap my tiny brain around it.

    It just magically happens. ;-)

    swc2001 Well-Known Member

Its because you still have clock work in RAM. Once you reboot Its gone and sees the new recovery.

So let me get this straight, correct me if I'm recieve OTA updates, all i need to do is flash stock rom, then flash this recovery. I've heard that unrooting isn't required, because the update will break root anyway.
  19. swc2001

    swc2001 Well-Known Member

What you you say is 100% accurate.
However I highly advise unrooting because It may be bricked in future updates. As of now No updates have hurt a rooted phone. Its just good to get in the practice of doing it. Now that is made easy with my Nandroid In the thread I need a volunteer etc etc.

After having done all this...when I turn on the phone will any of my information/data/messages/apps be on there? Must I have to reactive the phone through verizon and setup up my gmail account again?

I'm using amonRA recovery version 1.2.5 and I want stock recovery so I can get ota updates.

    This zip won't work with v1.2.5 :(
  22. swc2001

    swc2001 Well-Known Member

You can do one of two things

A: you can reflash clockwork by downloading Rom Manager. This may take several tries for it to take. Not a big deal though it will eventually work.

B: turn off the verification in Amon-Ra and then apply the zip.

Heres how to do this. in 1.2.5
    1. Boot into recovery
    2. Goto Flash Zip Menu
    3. Select Toggle signature verify
    4. Select Flash Zip from SD Card
    5. Select
    6. Press enter
    7. Turn off Phone
    8. Boot into recovery to check if it is now at stock recovery. (you should see little android with exclamation mark flash then it will boot into phone normally. If this happens you are at stock recovery.)**

    Hope that helps.

    swc2001 Well-Known Member

Ok the Stock recovery only does just that gives you NO recovery. It doesnt affect the Rom that you are using at all. Now if your wanting to go all the way stock to get OTA's or somthing like that... go here

    or here

Two different methods to get to the same location.

Some people like my way some people like Death2all110's way.
Its all good were all here to help.

I'm assuming you are using Amon-Ra to flash this. From the sound of it you are. You probably forgot step number 3 in the instructions. Make sure you Select Toggle signature verify.
