I am gonna try to do the simple root OTA on my evo and just have quick question. I am not gonna put a os mod on at this time as I just want wifi tether and full root access and might attempt cyanogen mod later. So once I do all the steps I will just have my stock os rooted and wont have to flash anything correct.

    Thanks

I haven't done Simple Root yet but when I do does it ask to flash a ROM? If so, can I sub whatever I see in the instructions (I'll be watching the video.....lol) for whatever ROM I'd like?

I don't think it asks you which ROM you want to flash... It's very easy to flash a new rom though: boot into recovery, nand, wipe and install it from sd card.

Can I use ROM Manager to flash custom ROMs? It does ask to backup and wipe before doing so.

When you are done with step 4 click on the extras tab in the simple root program and erase the files because they are not needed any more then flash the recovery. then follow the thread at XDA from step one and you should be good to go after that....I deleted the RA recovery in the zip because I already had the clockwork recovery but other than that it should work for you.

Where do I get the recovery flash or is it included with simple root?

its in the extras tab on the simple root program if i remember correctly. keep your phone hooked up with USB bebugging and it will load the clockwork recovery.

Yea you can use that but I heard some people have problems using that when flashing certain ROMs. I prefer the manual route, I feel that it is almost just as easy.
