how are your charging times on the nexus 10.

mine out of the box was at 60% and after 6 hours i'm at 80%. this is with no apps loaded or anything configured and no usage.

this seems somewhat slow based on other tablets that i have owned.

Mine charged way faster than that

If your charging it from a computer or use a charger other than what came with it, it will charge very slow. I've heard that it won't charge from the computer if the tablet is on, it will just drain the battery slower.

I'm also charging with the supplied charger and it seems rather slow to me as well. Perhaps it's because I was using it. I can't remember how fast my N7 was but with it I just plugged it in and walked away and never sat there and watched it charge like I was with this N10.

Mine will charge on my laptop but very slow. I had the same problem with my HP Touchpad. I don't remember the technical explanation someone gave me but the bottom line is a USB port doesn't have the amps to charge a 10" efficiently.

I also have a touchpad and it has to have a higher powered charger to charge efficiently. I'm guessing the nexus 10 has the same. A cell phone charger will not be "strong enough" to charge these battery's efficiently. The charger it comes with should be able to charge it all the way within a reasonable time frame. If you want to get technical to see what kind of energy flow you are getting, download the app "Elixir". In that app you can see how many milliamps your device is using under the battery section and next to where it says "current". If its negative then you are pulling energy from the battery. If its positive, then it is charging. If its just slightly positive then its not charging that much.

I'm sure someone else can explain it better but that's my take on it :)

Standard USB 2.0 ports supply 500mA and the wall/car chargers specifically designed to charge high drain devices provide 2A. So by charging via a port on your computer you are giving it 1/4 of what it takes to charge it fast and depending on use could actually be, as stated above, just slowing the drain rather then supplementing it. With USB 3 rapid charging was introduced but sadly I do not believe its supported by the N10. Feel lucky though there are many cases of the large i devices not charging at all from computers or other lower output plugs. BTW most smartphone chargers should be putting out the 2A as well, just check the listed output on any charger you plan to use to ensure it gets the juice to get you through the day.

I picked this up at radio shack the other day hoping it could keep my N10 charged while I used it for navigation on a three hour drive. It supports 2.1 amps PER USB port. When I left the house, it was at 79 percent and when I arrived it was still at exactly 79 percent. Even at 2.1 amps, if your taxing the N10, it won't charge. At least I was able to keep it from draining.

Hi zogirl :ciao: welcome to the forums.

I don't really know anything about your phone. You can try going to settings >applications and clearing data and cache on some of your apps that may have a large amount in that area, such as the play store.

To make a post, click on the button near the top of the forum that says 'New Thread'. I would also suggest trying the Galaxy Y forum. Someone with your phone might be able to tell you exactly what the problem may be.

But with the standard 2A charger it should take about 6 hours to fully charge (with unit on, but not using it)

Charging it from a laptop or another similar .5amp charger would take about a full day lol

I just finally let my Nexus 10 run completely down so I could do a full charge. From 0 to 100% it took just over 6 hours....and that was with the tablet on and wifi on. Not sure if that is standard or not since it is my first full charge.

I'm wondering if Google has a bigger plan in mind that's got to do with the charging point on the bottom like maybe a dock that charges it way faster. therefore making it almost manditory for n10 customers to ho out and purchase them. just my opinion.

I have 2 of the desktop docks for my GNex with the pogo pins and I would buy one for this tablet in a heartbeat.

I would absolutely buy a dock for it... i have two for my Xoom wifi and they are great.

I had both the standard (for work) and the HDn(for home) for my 4G Xoom and they were very nice. I like the pogo pins though....a lot easier to line up and less wear & tear on the micro USB port.

Plus the thing charges in what seems like no time from 15% to 100. Probably wouldn't have made the leap to N10 if they would update the xoom to 4.2. LOL

Yep, that is why I sold mine. Got $400 out of it and it was almost an even trade for the Nex10.

my wife still loves the xoom so i wont be selling. She doesnt take a laptop on business trips... its the xoom all the way.

Yeah, wife fought the idea of a tablet until last Christmas when I got her a Sony Tablet S. Now it goes everywhere she does.

So what is the average time the N10 SHOULD(according to Google and satisfied users) fully charge from 0% with its original charger?
PD: Since it takes long(6hours) to charge, Im guessing people charge it during night(and got sleep) to use it during day???
  24. kristalsoldier

    kristalsoldier Well-Known Member

Don't know the average time it SHOULD take, but I charge mine at night. By that time it has been on for about 15 hours or so and the battery is down to about 45% max. During those 15 hours or so, I actively use it for about 8-9 hours. Primarily reading e- texts, some Skype, sending and replying to a lot of emails, and maybe one TV show to close the night - around 30 mins. Not bad I'd say.
