Help SMS msgs are not being received by one contact

I have a friend that recently switched carriers and to an iPhone from a blackberry, but with the same number. I cannot seem to get SMS texts through to him, but I still receive his. I do not get an error message or notice of any kind, so it would seem they are floating in SMS purgatory. I can still call and email him from the contact as well, and no other contacts seem to be affected.

I have tried deleting all his info from my phone, and re-loading it, but it won't work. Is this more likely something wrong with my phone/service or his?
