Well this one has got me stumped. I generally always had my notification sound occur twice because I'm using handcent sms as well and that's just what happened, but that didn't bother me.

But recently I did a hard reset and since then I'm getting my sms notification sound and another bit of audio which is some speech. It's not the phone text to speech stuff, it's some kind of audio file. It says 'The Templars are in possession of a powerful object known as the challice'.

I have no idea where this came from or what's doing it. I've removed handcent sms, I've set my notification ringtone as silent. Now when I get an email I have no notification sound, but when I receive an sms while it doesn't play a tone, it's still playing the audio file.

    It is driving me nuts!!!!!!!

that sound a bit funny to be honest. back up all your apps and files and try another hard reset, format your sd card and try it then, if its ok install apps one by one checking each time that the message tone is ok

Yeah, I'd thought of that one but it wasn't it.

Been trying to think of where that phrase is coming from. The templars and the challice being very middle ages, I do have assassins creed on my phone. Might dump it and see what happens.

sounds very like some audio from assassins creed, it is possible the an audio file is saved in the wrong folder or has the same name as a system file.

Can I please hear a collective chorus of 'Doofus' from everyone!!!!

I forgot about ringo lite and that it can set sms tones as well. It had changed the default tone to 'raw_220' which I can only assume is from assassins creed. All fixed.

I should have bought an iPhone, then I couldn't stuff with this stuff ;) ;)
