SMS Timing Issue

I just got a new S3 (my other broke). This one already has Jelly Bean installed onto it, but an issue that has recently cropped up is that I will send a text message to someone, and if they reply in less than a minute (e.g. I send a message at 8:01 PM and they're reply comes at 8:01 PM) then their message will appear as though it was received before mine was sent, sometimes even with an earlier time stamp (see attached).

Any one have an insight into this issue?

Most likely just overlap in the way devices poll towers via slot cycle. Yours sends at the beginning of the cycle (could be set at anywhere from 1.5 to 12 seconds or so), receiver's device detects it at the beginning of their cycle, which was a minute earlier than sender's cycle, reply then is stamped by your phone as received earlier.

Should be rare, unless you're channeling Rod Serling. :D

Anyway to change the slot cycle index on my S3. I've heard that it's all controlled by towers now, but I'd probably lower it if I could.
