So did anybody get it?

I originally placed an order for it on tuesday morning when it was supposed to be available and at first they approved it. Then a few hours later they cancelled it and said it won't be available until the 18th. I was up in the air over this or the white D2 global so I said screw it and ordered the white D2 global. That arrives tomorrow but some people over at engadget said they saw their D Pro was on the truck out for delivery.

Anybody have it show up yet?? Wonder if it's location based on early arrivals.

    I ordered mine Tuesday morning and it arrived about noon today. I have approx 95% of my applications reloaded and everything is working fine. I don't have time to post photos, but you already know what it looks like, so I'll share some thoughts below. I am coming from a Droid X, which I really like - but I need to decide if the Pro is a better device for me, if so the DX will get assigned to one of my team members. Here are some thoughts, in no particular order;

    * The size is nice, feels similar to but better than the HTC Incredible. I don't care for the shiny, slippery, fingerprint-prone back cover. Let's hope Seidio gets an extended battery out quick, with a matte finish back cover.

    * I am not a big fan of chrome, so the chrome border around the phone would have been better in black, IMHO. That said, it does have a real quality appearance and holding it gives one the impression of a quality device.

    * The configurable key on the right side is nice - I use mine for opening the dialer.

    * The keyboard is FANTASTIC!!! Reminds me of the best of my BB 9700 and the Motorola Q9, which was a crappy phone but had a great keyboard IMO.

    * The area around the micro-USB port lights up when the keyboard is lit and also appears to light while charging. Only a slight glow, but a nice touch.

    * I haven't tested the camera yet, so no comments there.

    * The screen is nice, but seems pretty small, coming from a Droid X - but hey, what phone wouldn't!?! The screen response and clarity is very good.

    * I'm using Launcher Pro Plus, with five items across and four rows high. This is about all that fits on this size screen. LPP is working well and I'm happy with that.

    * The touch-sensitive buttons on the bottom of the screen are responsive and, while not as nice as the Droid X hardware buttons, work well.

    * From what I can tell, the Pro does not appear to have the noise canceling microphone feature that the Droid X has.

    * You can set shortcuts on the keyboard to open applications. I do not see an option to set Blackberry type speed dials on the keyboard, not yet at least.

That's all I've got for now, but I hope it helps. I think the Pro is a great device from first impressions, but I'm not sure I can divorce my Droid X yet :)

Awesome. Get some pics up and more reviews!!! The keyboard comments put a big smile on my face!

Some updates, sorry no time for pics...but it looks just like the pics we've seen ;)

    * I initially liked Launcher Pro Plus on the Droid Pro, however; about an hour after the posting, LPP started acting funny and freezing up. I deleted LPP for now and am using the stock launcher.

    * I put my AT&T pre-paid SIM card in the phone, then called VZW tech support to get the unlock code - which they provided with no questions asked. The bad news is that I cannot get the phone to recognize the AT&T signal, no matter what I do. I made sure to select the correct network in the network settings and I do see "ATT" at the top of the unlock screen and on the drop-down status bar, but no signal strength and no connection. Where the signal bars are, I just get a circle with a line through it.

I'll post more tomorrow night, after using it all day.

Something about real world pics is different so take some pics if you can. Why do you think we all love unboxing videos. :) Just use your DX.

Thanks for the thoughts. Glad to see someone got theirs. SO back to the screen, what do colors look like? Washed out at all. I know you said it's clarity is good but one of the things I liked about my Dinc was the colors.

Colors look good to my old eyes.......but I'm still not sure I can give up all that screen real estate on the DX :)

the form manager over on the mtor support forums says that it does have "crystal talk" which i thought was code for the second noise canceling mic, but i'm not sure since no where do they mention a second mic.

on the winmo 6.1 samsung saga- at one point they locked it down somehow so that you couldn't use GSM in the US. The GPS on that phone sucked so i think somehow they tell by the tower id's or something.

    OK, here's the latest.......

    * When you are using in portrait mode, only the hardware keyboard is active. When you rotate to landscape, you get the virtual keyboard.

    * I tried it out with enterprise mail and it works quite well. I also like the integration of accounts feature.

    * It definitely does NOT have noise canceling capabilities, a la Droid X. While I really like the DX call quality (both directions) I use a Jawbone Icon most of the time, so it's not critical for me to have the noise canceling feature on the phone.

    * It really, really feels good in the hand. Almost perfect size for me as I have large hands (it could be a bit larger for me, but then the pocket-ability is compromised)

    * While the extended battery is not yet available, I can see where it will make little difference in size, with the one piece back remaining smooth comfortable to hold. In fact, while I was talking to a VZW rep, she advised that she attended employee training on this device yesterday - and the trainer told the class that the Pro has new battery saving technology with yields 20% better life than previous similar models (take that for what you will, but it seems possible). Since the screen is smaller than the DX and there is no noise canceling tech on board, I would think the battery life may be decent. Either way, I'm getting the extended when it comes out - can never have too much battery. If it works as described, it will be a monster with the extended.

In my unprofessional, day-and-a-half opinion, this is a decent device for the Blackberry user who is wants android functionality. Unless I have a major disaster, this one will be a keeper.

Ok, I won't make this long but I got the device this morning and used it for about two hours and switched back to the DX.

I get to try every phone that pretty much comes out and I have never used a phone for two hours and gave up. I do not like the keyboard and the glossy back but I stuck Verizon's High Gloss case on which you can hardly press the on/off button it so stiff.

I really think most of my issue is being spoiled on the DX size of the screen and not using a keyboard since having a BB Pearl 8230 two years ago!

I will say some positives - I look forward to the updates on my X that Motorola put on this phone i.e. SMART DIALING FINALLY on the Moto Dialer. They also support profiles now.

Did you ever get it to work on AT&T? I'm looking at buying it outright and using it just on AT&T.

Let me put it this way; I went into the bathroom with my Droid X, turned on the fan, and made a call. The other party could not hear any background noise, whether I was on speakerphone or regular mode. I did the same with the Droid Pro and in both cases, the other party said I sounded like $h!t (pun intended) as if I was in a tunnel with lots of traffic. All I know is that it does not live up to the standard set by the Droid X. I will likely still keep mine, as I use a Jawbone Icon most of the time.

No luck at all. This will not likely be "fixed" until the device is rooted or someone much smarter figures it out......

Have you tried disabling the CDMA radio in the "Service Menu" (the menu system where you can update your tower list)?

Given what I've been reading, it seems like this device will not be able to work on CDMA and GSM simultaneously (which would be ideal for me), like some dual-SIM phones can. There has to be a "switch" between CDMA/GSM. Was customer service able to tell you "when" or "under what conditions" the SIM card goes active?

UPDATE...well, ask and ye shall receive?

So far I really like the phone. If you are or were a big fan of the Blackberry Curve, then you will love this phone. The keyboard is so much better. It is nice and fast. It also comes with some nice business software like VPN and MS Office like apps. The only drawback I see is the screen resolution isn't very high, but then again, I didn't buy this phone to play games on it. This is the ideal phone for the any business professional.

Does it have a notification light? How is the call, picture and video capture quality?

My call quality is horrible. For a business phone, one would expect it to excel in voice and speakerphone quality; while neither on the Pro.

I am really disappointed to say the least. I wonder if my unit is a dud? Anyone else having people complain your voice is muffled and unclear? I'm batting a thousand.

havent used it for calls yet. I just got it set up. Using LP as I found the Blur to be overwhelming. So far so good. I still think my 9650n has a better keyboard, maybe just because Im used to it.

Yes! So far I can get green for messages and blue for Twidroyd. Not sure if or how I can get other colors.

FWIW, I got the T-Mo Motorola Defy last night at full retail (I have both Tmo and At&t) and had to put in service call to get a "working" unlock code, but 2nd one worked. Customer service was more than willing to provide it to me, but the ones they had initially didn't work, and were half as long as what did. Getting 2Mbs+ down 1.5Mbs up on the AT&T 850 band (no 1900 UMTS, does have 1900 Edge).

I'm sure its not as "full featured" as the Pro, but for those looking for an AT&T alternative, this should fit the bill, especially compared to the flimsier Bravo cousin. Another thing to consider is that it works on the $15/mo Media Net plan (helps if you're grandfathered in with Unlimited). Its really small/light (3.7" screen), but again, feels much more durable than the Bravo (water resistant, ruggedized plastic, and Gorilla Glass). I do miss a hardware keyboard, but at least I have slingmobile again. Another plus is that the sound quality/volume are really good. I was running the Skype Echo test and a decent level, and realized it was playing thru the earpiece, and not the speaker...this at half volume.

Also, on T-Mo, it was holding signal in the problem areas in my town (inside some buildings), a little better than the N900 and Moto Q I was previously using...2-4 bars vs. 0-2.

    Just a heads up.

I made several calls yesterday with my phone with no issues. I got to say, I really like this phone so far.
