So is the EVO old news now?

Who cares? Love my Evo. The phone does not need to be in the news. It's a phone. It doesn't do tricks or sing and dance.

But see, that's the point. It's the first and only 4G phone out there. If it was the first phone to get the Internet or the first phone to do video or even the first to do 3G, it wouldn't need a massive advertising blitz either. That's why they get away with the $10 thing. The evo will not be "yesterdays news" until every phone and provider can do 4G.

I think a lot of people here are missing the point. The way I see it, one of the best reasons to buy an HTC smart phone isn't for what it is like right now, it's for what it will become after months and months of improvements. The simple fact is, the more popular the phone, the larger the user community, the more accessories will become available, the more developers and hackers will work on it, and the better the phone will get. This seems so obvious to me that I don't understand why people don't get it. The only explanation I have is that many people buy something like the Evo to be different. They just want something other than the iPhone or Blackberry that their buddies have and they'll lose cool points if more people have the same phone. In the world that I live in, I want everyone possible to have an Evo. The more the merrier. And in my world, if the Evo becomes a failure in the mobile phone world, well, that will certainly diminish my owning experience. Will it make the phone less than what it was when I bought it? No. Will it make the phone less than what I hoped it could become? Absolutely.

The HTC EVO IS SO OUTDATED!

JK. It's not outdated at all. How could Sprint's flagship phone be outdated? It's one of the fastest phones out right now with the Droid X, Galaxy S, and iPhone 4. I wouldn't say that's outdated. An outdated Droid would be like the HTC Droid Eris or original Droid (when the Droid 2 comes out).

The truth.

America's first 4G phone? U do know this and the Galaxy S will be the cheapest 4G phones whenever 4G gets fully rolled out since they came out so early? I think Sprint has basically guaranteed these 2 phones will be around when 4G comes fully.

And u can best believe the Droid 1 will get replaced with the Droid 2. Its not a matter of if, its a matter of when....

And LMAO@ Ass time...lol

See this is the kind of crap that tickes me off:
Droid X might Dethrone iPhone 4 as the Best Smart Phone | Times News World

The Droid X isn't even as advanced as the EVO and the mainstream media is drooling all over it.

Though the EVO is a great device, how can the Droid X, with a faster 45nM chipset with better video function, more app and storage space be less advanced?

They are talking trash anyways, since the media LUVS the iPhone. Most of the media are socialists and Jobs is a fascist. Love in the making ;) I was intending this to be a joke, but perhaps more truth than I care to consider.

You make good points, but also the fact that it's Android means that it will have craploads of good apps/widgets/etc down the road too, not just accessories. That's not exactly specific to EVO, moreso to Android, though I do think EVO is the best Android phone. Even if Droid X is close, it still doesn't have Sense, which makes Android attractive IMO.

You do make a valid point.

I just don't think Sprint is going to go there. Eveyrone thinks Droid is the real android phone.

I agree with this comment. I tell friends that I got an HTC Evo and they ask if it's like the iPhone. I tell them it is a smartphone but runs the android operating system. They almost always say "Oh, so you got a droid".

Even after explaining the difference between the droid and my phone, which runs android, I still see the confusion on their face.

You can thank Verizon and there $zillion dollar add campaigns! And the new ads are even sicker, get used to hearing Rule the Air...its their new catch phrase.
