You need to be running froyo (2.2) before it will work...Phil

I'm currently running Jrummy's Froyo Kangerade. Was hoping there was an APK floating about that was supported.

It does seem odd that I'm the only one asking. If it was released (for the rooted motodroids), this board would probably be inundated with overjoyed geeks (like me). Can't wait to see if my Orb streaming improves...

    Thanks!

that version and it's definitely an improvement over the last iterations (especially the long press to full-screen).

I'm usually the patient type but with SlingPlayer being officially released it's really tempting to throw more money at this device. Orb is really a nice application, but is really flaky on the Droid (wifi is usually tolerable). Wanted to try the flash streaming option again before moving on. I've heard the SlingPlayer rocks even over 3g.

What to do what to do...

I wonder if the final release will take advantage of the OMAP's PowerVR GPU. Since Droid isn't supposed to have 2.2 and therefore Flash support yet, it might only be designed for hardware acceleration on the Snapdragon chip in the Nexus One.

Everything I have read states that you must be running 2.2 to use that apk. If I were to install that on my non-rooted 2.1 Droid, would it mess my Droid up? I'm just wondering because I kinda wonder what is different in 2.2 that make that apk work.

It wouldn't mess it up, it just wouldn't do anything. It would be like putting an xbox 360 game into your ps1.

So, basically there's no point in trying, even if it won't work. Oh Well.

So has anyone figured this out yet? Nothing on the market for me. Adobe Flash showcase for mobile looks like it's been upgraded but there's no download link for it.

I agree that it seems like it would come with our 2.2 release but maybe a dl link will be provided for people who already have froyo like the nexus one owners.

It's cool that Adobe actually live up to it's end of the bargain by releasing flash in June. Hopefully that's all google was waiting for and 2.2 can be rolled out in June too.

If you navigate to rich Internet applications | Adobe Flash Player with your Droid and click the link on the right that says "Download Flash Player" it will open up the market as if its sending you to download it, and then says it cannot be found.

It seems like it's on the Market but is somehow being hidden from us.

So why can't a Nexus One owner pull the apk and share the wealth? :p

Well it's been out for 2 days now. I'm not arguing that you are wrong, I'm just wondering why we haven't seen an apk yet.

Im not even 100% sure they actually did release it yet. I know the betas were on the market for nexus users though. I bet you could edit your build prop to show yourself as a nexus 2.2 user and whatever they have up would be there

I've been trying, too, since the announcement of the official Flash. I believe it is being blocked in Market from our Droids because even going straight from Adobe's site fails. Click on the link to get Flash: Market opens, tries to load, then errors out.

I thought I remember hearing Flash for Droid is a little different because they want to get complete graphics acceleration from our different hardware. I don't remember where I saw that though.

Edit: I just noticed nstallion posted the same thing about an hour ago...

Yeah I suppose even with a full release, since the Droid doesn't have 2.2 yet, Adobe probably hasn't coded acceleration for the PowerVR chip yet.

Ok, so I've just force upgraded to Froyo (YAY!!! 'Bout time!), I've downloaded the Adobe Flash Studio from the marketplace. When I open it up I follow the link to m.flash.com. I "click" the Get Adobe Flash Player button. I then get an error dialog box that says "The requested item could not be found." Any ideas what's going on?
