To those anxious for Moment updates and view this as being left behind, relax. What are the updates and why do they need them so fast? With Verizon's legendary slow approval process, these updates had to be in the works before the phone was released to have such an early release date. OTH, do we believe the date at all? Because update release ETA's haven't been exactly reliable industry wide. The smart move is not to leak out any release info and release only when it's ready!

I disagree. I'd rather know something is in the works, so I don't sit here with a half-broken phone I have to stroke just right to get full functionality from while wondering if the company that made it/the company that sold it to me is or is not leaving me to fend for myself. I want to know Sprint/Samsung have been apprised of the problems and are working diligently to fix it. Even if it will take a while, I just want the reassurance... maybe an estimate too.

But so far its been "oh sorry your phone's broken, there might be a fix someday, but in the meantime here's a band-aid solution that doesn't really help"

I'm with you on this also any news at this point will be good just something to let us know that a update is coming, but to leave us guessing is pretty lame not to mention the htc hero has been out a month before the eris and has major issues but yet the eris is getting a update major props to verizon for taking care of there customers. Makes me wish I had moved to verizon honestly, guess well see how the cards fall on this

Much agreed, what a better way to lose customers than to leave them hanging in the balance as to which update (if any) will come out and when.

If I was a new customer and within my 30 day trial period and watched as Verizon let's their customers know of much needed updates coming down the pipe, guess what I'll be gone.

Thus the reason Sprint is still losing customers. While you're at it, you might want to announce another Android phone real quick, Verizon criticized for their lack of phones will pass Sprint up again here real quick. If they get the Pre or iPhone, Sprint might have to fold into another carrier real quick.

Whoa! I never meant that they should leave the customer hanging, just that it's really really really bad when a release date gets leaked and then that date comes and goes with no update. If the company makes a firm announcement that there will be a update on a certain date, great! The problem is that the usual way these things play out is that there is a leak often intentional that a update is being released on a certain date. No official announcement is made that this is or isn't fact. The update isn't released (and may not even exist) on that date and the forums go berserk. A large percentage of users who are anxious for a bug fix or new feature never get it through their thick sculls that there was never an official release announcement and loudly profess their undying hate for said company. If an update is in the offing, get it done, make it right then announce the date it will be released to the public. Until then say "we're working on it" and leave the leaks to plumbing and boats.

Never had a complaint about Sprint's phones till recently. I think Verizon is bailing on the Pre which doesn't mean they might get a different webOS phone. If it's a next gen Pre, I'd be peeved if it's something Sprint doesn't have considering their "exclusive" with Palm.

And to boot, both of their Android phones one up Sprint's. So to add to that the lack of Samsung announcing an update and the possibility of a third phone coming to Verizon, it's a nice punch in the gut to Sprint.

I think they're also getting a new winmob 6.5 phone as well.

Just went Sprint looked like they were jumping to the head of the line, they lose out to Verizon again.
