Please compare to what my DINC2 reports for the Clock app:
    version 1.00.000.081006.605
Storage 0.00B (for all three Total, Application, Data)
    Cache 0.00B
Launch by default- no defaults set

My cache is also zero, but my storage is different for all three, total being 596KB (app 420KB, Data 176KB).

It looks like the clock app just isn't there for some reason.

I've noticed that the clock app icon is gone.

I had to do a factory reset to get the clock functions to work.

ARG!!! I did a factory reset and the clock functions restored. However after doing a battery pull, they are gone again! I am about to throw this against the wall!!!

Just got off phone with HTC. They are aware of the problem and are working on a fix. Hopefully sooner than later. For those that did a factory reset, don't do a battery pull!

Mysteriously, the Clock app has reappeared in the app drawer and the clock widget functions again on my DINC2!

I updated and installed a few apps yesterday which may have triggered a fix perhaps?

    Updated the CNN app
    Added GateGuru
    Added Priority Pass

Don't know if this is now resolved permanently, something tells me it will only be temporary, but thought I would report this.

Oh man I saw this thread days ago, never clicked on it, and just thought to myself "that is odd". I used my alarm clock every night since the GB update and now all of a sudden tonight its gone. So frustrating.

Oddly enough, my clock app disppeared yet again after installing a custom Skype image. Uninstalled Skype and then reinstalled and my clock is back yet again. Fickle.

Sigh... I seem to have gone through the same basic scenario of installing and uninstalling apps and dinging the Clock app in process.

The central question seems to be "How do you re-install the Clock app?".

Clearly something triggers a re-install, but what? And how's that done without resorting to a Factory Reset?

I am on my second factory reset. I did it yesterday and it is back.
The clock app showed 0.00B data when it was not functioning. I am now showing 104KB.
I tried the whole removing apps thing also. Right now I have my apps back and it is working so I am not sure that we can blame an app yet. I may need to go through and open all of my apps to see if it may cause an issue.
I am also seeing the move to SD card option on my clock app. I wonder if moving it to the SD card could cause or avoid this?? EDIT:It will not allow you to move to external media(SD card)

My guess is that no one app is killing off the clock app, that the problem comes from the process of installing and uninstalling apps. Somewhere in all of that, a table is getting dinged and the clock app seems to disappear. My guess is the clock app, strictly speaking, doesn't really go away. It's there all along; something triggers a rebuilding of the damaged list and the clock app magically re-appears after it's rebuilt.

What event(s) trigger the rebuilding of the list of apps and their location in the DINC2? Figure that out and the problem is at least manageable.

Have you gotten the app to disappear and reappear without a factory reset?

Nope - well, I made the app disappear. :D But reappear? No luck there.

The more I think about this, the more I think we're seeing an app that was brought in from elsewhere (the HTC Hero) and which has some flaw that GB has exposed. The Factory Reset rebuilds some list about apps, finds the clock app, and re-lists it. Until something else (apparently some combination of app installation and uninstallation) breaks the connection to the clock app and it goes back to being a greyed entry in the management list and it's borken on the home screen.

One possibly useful data point: I installed a Hero clock widget from Factory Widgets and uninstalled it. Right after that Clock showed up in my app list. I put up a stock HTC clock widget and it worked fully - the alarm clock, timer, etc., came back. Clock shows up in Manage applications and responds as expected.
Try installing a clock app from Factory Widgets, install a stock widget, and see if that restores normal function

Wow, that worked for me too. Weird  I did notice when I went into, Settings -> applications -> Manage applications and selected the clock widget I downloaded, the Storage and Cache info flickered back in forth from zero to numbers. I had to hit uninstalled real quick to get it to uninstall.

Edit: BTW all my alarms I had scheduled there before were gone??

It's definitely something related to app installation. I had installed an app the other day (can't remember now what it was), and it had triggered the issue. Being rooted, I promptly went into Titanium Backup and unfroze the Clock app, but it was odd that it happened.

Yes. My clock came back all by itself. Don't know what triggered it. Disappeared two days later and is still gone. Really wish HTC would fix this.

unfortunately that trick did not work for me. I agree however that this issue is tied to the app install process. Best I can tell my clock app disappeared or reappeared after an app install event.

If you have Clock listed in your "Manage applications" "all" list, but it's greyed out, then installing another clock app/widget (try the Factory Widgets site) should do the trick. If Clock is missing altogether... sorry, I'm out of ideas.

My clock app is grayed out but installing another clock widget unfortunately did not resolve the problem.

    Odd. [/headscratch]

    What app/widget did you try?

Did you try doing a Reset - that seems to be a good way to flush junk out and start up cleanly without the pain of a Factory Reset.

I installed Hero Night Clock Widget 2x2.

Yes, I've done a factory reset. It brought back the clock app but only temporarily. Clock disappeared and the reappeared and subsequenty disappeared again. Remains broken. Not doing another reset, too painful. Need solution from HTC.
