Are they working togeather? i know there was talk of problems..., just want to clear things up
Some people said on. Honestly, everything that Spare Parts did works in 2.1 natively.
I didn't have any luck. The only thing I really found useful in spare parts was the ability to change what the end key does. And if you recall the settings button for that option specifically says for 1.5 only. But of course I had to push it anyways..rendering the end button useless! Only fix was to do a factory reset.
yeah a few people found that one out the hard way. I still think the app provides alot of useful info. Especially for detecting problem apps.
so should i get or noo..?
question what is spare parts. It sounds like an app of some sort but what does it do and does it do it well
IMO its a very useful app and worth the price of FREE! get it, try it out, and if you don't like it, delete it.
spare parts gives you access to a few settings that aren't in the regular menus. also has battery history and info, and also allows you to see what is using your CPU.
is there anything that can mess up my phone? Like the END key etc. I now know the pros but now i want the cons
the only thing I have seen that I didn't like was the built in process manager. When set to aggressive it kills things that it shouldn't. I personally would just leave that feature alone. Just remember that it changes settings that you can't access thru the main menus so if you change something, then uninstall the program you have no way to change it back. And yes the END key feature is for 1.5 only. (just like it says LOL)
so if i do change my mind and unistall it i should set everything back to default???
Well thx for the heads up jreed, I just dont want to mess with stuff I dont understand. But I feel a little safe try it now
Is there any other app out there that lets you change the behavior of the end button similar to how Spare Parts does? I probably would've updated to one of the 2.1 leaks by now if I'd been able to find something. I've just gotten so used to it that it would probably throw me off for a long time.
I have the task killer set to aggressive, and it really sped up the phone, but it kills Sense. Any way I can have it kill anything I'm not using except for Sense? For example, it never kills Pandora when I'm not using it, so is there a way to make it see Sense as "active?"
not from spare parts. also if you hit menu from inside pandora it has a quit button to stop the app from running.
You are wrong my friend, no need for a reset. I ran into that issue myself, All you have to do is go back into spare parts, and change the End Button behavior back to the original way...
FWIW i am not using it on 2.1
couple of weeks late on that one eh? LOL
LOL nobody else said anything, geeze! figured I would at least try to help out anyone searching for this in the future before resetting their entire devices LMAO
I personally like the ability to turn off things like fancy rotation and transitions. I think it helps the phone run smoother. I may be missing where it is, but I haven't found those options elsewhere on the phone.
there is a animation settings, but it only gives you the option to have all, some, or none. spare parts gives slightly more control. I use it more for the info it provides you than the actual settings you can change.
