Post from XDA...Can someone that has the phone confirm this?

Couple of interesting specs - xda-developers

AT&T has posted a new spec sheet on the Captivate here.

Couple of things stood out in contrast to information (speculation?) that has been posted on this forum and elsewhere, so wanted to mention them and see if any of the early purchasers can check and confirm.

    Wi-Fi (WLAN)
    Wi-Fi (WLAN) enabled YES
    WLAN support 802.11g
WLAN security methods WEP, PSK, EAP, & WPA

    Multimedia capabilities
NOTE: The storage capacity is limited by the remaining flash memory and expandable memory.
Audio/Graphic/Video Multimedia Messaging (MMS) Size Limit 300KB
    Audio Player YES
Audio Formats SP Midi, Standard MIDI, WAV, MP3
Graphic Formats GIF87a, GIF89, PNG, WBMP & JPG
    Video Player YES
    Video Formats MPEG4 Part 2 Simple Profile, H.263 (.avi, .mov, .3gp, .mp4)

    Memory
Flash (device) Memory 16 GB flash memory
Expandable Memory Supports MicroSD cards with up to 16GB of memory

I point these out since some people have assumed that the base specs of the SGS were carried over to the Captivate (e.g., 802.11n, FLAC support, max 32GB MicroSD cards supported). Has anyone checked these on their phones yet?

I think you're over-reacting. My girlfriend got the Samsung Vibrant a few days ago and it has all the same specs as the intl version. I'm sure AT&Greed didn't go through the trouble of replacing the on-board WAN radio with an inferior one. More than likely, some dumbass at AT&Greed just got the specs wrong - BIG SURPRISE!

Well, we'll know more tomorrow, but we've always known that you could not use a 32gb card in these, the regular SGS only supports adding an additional 16gb for a total of 32gb, that is perhaps a hardware or rom issue...but 32gb is plenty for me anyway :)

Yea, this was surprising for me as well. From what I'm gathering, (since I don't have a 32GB SDHC card anyway), the hardware is standard SDHC compatible - SDHC is classified as greater than 4GB and less than or equal to 32GB. Meaning that if the HARDWARE supports 16GB, it must, by token, support 32GB. If there is ANY limitation, it's in the operating system in supporting more than 32GB of storage. I couldn't attest to that, however. I'm willing to bet that it will see an entire 48GB if for no other reason than the memory is mounted as more than one separate partition/volume.

If that spec sheet is correct then Im not buying it. I will wait 5 months for my contract to expire and get the Verizon or Tmobile version. I never really had issue with att until I started contemplating gettin an android phone, but after seeing what they do to their phones and the extent of their gayness I will leave.

we'll see, marketing pages are usually easy to get incorrect. I remember the aria page had several errors on it. Heck we should have a few users who can verify the wireless N or I will be able to in about 12 hours :) I can do flac too, so just wait 12 hours :)

Just relax guys! Like I said, AT&Greed may have made a few restrictions in the Android Market, but I seriously doubt they would've gone through the trouble or had the clout to make Samsung design a different set of hardware specs just for them. In the global picture, AT&Greed is powerfull but not omnipotent.

As for their "gayness", all they've actually done is 1) not adopt Android as quickly as some other carriers and 2) restricted app installation to the Market. In reality, these aren't completely heinous things. And this is coming from a WinMo user that has modded no less than 3 generations of WinMo phones on AT&Greed's network.

My girlfriend's Vibrant hooked up with my wireless network so fast it was stupid! Only problem is, at my house, my network is dual-band - 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz. My 802.11N network is purely on 5Ghz, which the Vibrant can't even communicate on. It may sound arrogant to say, but you really have to be a nit-picking freak to worry whether your PHONE is hooking up 802.11G vs. 802.11N - believe me, my girlfriend had no less than 25 apps on AppBrain selected for download (one was Asphalt 5 HD at 102MB post install) and it only took about 15 minutes to get everything installed.

Stop worrying so much about spec sheets and maybe concentrate a little more on overall usability?

According to the press release from samsung about the captivate here it does have 802.11 b/g/n. It also says it will only take up 16GB sd cards for a total of 32GB. I don't see anything about what audio formats are supported. So, it appears the data sheet on at&t is partially right and partially wrong.

I can find out. It def supports MP3

Okay well it Supports Wav, MP3 and MKV from what I have test. And I loaded a huge 1080p mkv the only one I could find and it plays like butter!

Here I made a video. My webcam is not the quick. It plays PERFECT on the phone.
