Speech to text app for texting on Hero, anyone know of any?
"Download Google search by voice from the market place then download Handcent sms, there is a feature in Handcent that lets you do voice to text and it uses the google search to voice engine. hey presto you have the feature even though it was left out of the hero "
Same answer I gave on another thread hope this helps
Ps the voice feature in handcent is accessed via the menu button after you have selected a contact. You need google search by voice as handcent uses it's voice recognition feature.
Is there anyway to calibrate the voice settings?
Dunno if its my geordie accent, but "im not coming to football tonight mate" did not end up
typing that out lol
Naa, not good mate. Tried it and it`s not accurate at all.
I wanted to text my Mrs and I said "Hi Darling, are you ok" and it give me the result "Hot Girls in the UK"
Tried it again and it gave me "Holly Valance is OK"
I'm afraid if that does not work for you then chances are nothing will. Googles voice recognition is up there with the best of them. It is no good for me either (scottish)as I have stated on another thread but it is at least a way to get it on the hero and does work well for some.
I tried it with my Northern Accent and I got complete rubbish. However when I try to annunciate a bit better and most importantly, speak slower I dis start to get quite accurate results. Not sure how much I will use it. Talking slow and posh around here is likely to end with a thick ear!
lol, try speaking to your phone (which kinda looks daft anyway)with a posh English accent in Scotland. No one would bother in all honesty but my god you feel stupid.
here's a clip that was posted on another thread by sithsurfer about voice recognition and being scottish, thought you might find it amusing.

The googles voice should be set up by first letting the user read a few sentences into it where it can recognise your tone of voice as well as your accent. This should be an option because more than one person might be using the phone or could just use an option to say what accent you have (but would be too much for google).
That way it would be a little bit better with the results.
