SPRecovery 99.2b issue, won't read tar

    I have been looking for a fix for this everywhere, and now I turn to you guys. I have 99.2b installed, and my phone is rooted and everything, but the recovery can't see the .tar files I am trying to use. I click install from sd and it says no .tar detected. The files are in the root of the sd as it said. Any one have any idea how I an fix it?

    It would be nice to have a little more info ... like what you're trying to accomplish. But I'm going to take a SWAG at it.

    It's probably 1 of 2 issues. Either you need to uncompressed the file once before copying it to your sdcard ... or you just need to rename the file extension. Going by memory, I think it should end with ".tgz".

    Sorry, I was in a hurry to get to class. I am trying to install the Sholes.info custom rom to my droid. i believe the one I have 1.1. Every time I try to install it the system tells me that it can't find any tar files. If you need any other info let me know.

    Yep, it's a filename issue. I'm 99% sure you'll need to rename it.

    I tried renaming just now, still didn't work. I am really becoming frustrated with this thing. Thanks anyways

    just take off the tar extension, that should do it

    Just tried that too, still no go. I am saving it to the root of the sd card, that is where it needs to be right?

    It HAS to be placed on the root of the sdcard, not inside any folders and do not extract, and it has to be named either

    sholes_info-1.1.rom.tar

    or

    sholes_info-1.1.rom.tgz

    Sholes' directions also always say to make sure no other .tar or .tgz files are on the root of the sdcard.

    It worked, thanks a lot, i had it with 2 extensions, stupid me, thx

    Yeah I had never noticed that until 1.2. I used to just keep all the TARs in the root of the sdcard until I flashed 1.2. Now I keep them all in a folder called SHOLES on my sdcard.

    I have SirPsychoS 99.2b and I'm trying to update my droid market manually , but when I go to choose from Rom or Sd card it says " no tar archives found " can someone please help me?
