Could not agree more! If the internal specs are hot I'll be all over a new EVO. Internals are what I, personally, am most interested in. Then I'll get the 3D as an added bonus. :) Long live EVO!

SO excited for a stock Gingerbread Nexus S for Sprint! The EVO needs a top-dog successor. The Nexus S with Wi-Max would make an amazing new flagship for Sprint.

Just hope they improve the camera.

Sprint has lost more customers in terms of percentage than any other carrier after the iPhone was introduced. Not having an iPhone hurts. Even after Verizon dropped iPhone4 a full 16% of new polled buyers were Sprint converts. That's a problem. The Evo improved retention, and even helped gain customers, but nothing close to earning back the customers they lost.

WP7 is not "getting destroyed" by android by any stretch. Maybe on this forum, but in a larger market, WP7 is gaining steam as the word gets out. Sprint would be utterly ******ed to ignore an emerging mobile platform, that will gain market share in 2011 by all projections.

WebOS can probably be written off, however, since Sprint historically has a strong relationship with Palm, and a firm base or rabid supporters that won't spit at android, better to give them a home than have them go to Verizon, T-mobile, and AT&T

Wider nets catch more fish, and Sprint absolutely needs to bolster their user baser. Their stock is in the toilet, and being able to go into 2012 saying they netted 1 million new users on all OS platforms is better than saying they netted half that amount in android sales.

I cant help but feel a little "meh" about a 3d phone. Glasses-free 3d requires so many factors to look right...the correct viewing angle, distance, etc. This literally means that if you hold your phone too close or too far, its gonna be blurry, ie holding the phone vs having it on a windshield dock in your car for gps. in one of the cases, its not gonna look right.
The nexus s sounds fantastic on sprint, but all the speculation is aiming towards having touchwiz on top of gingerbread, basically turning the phone into a Epic without the keyboard and a NFC chip, which arguably isnt that usable yet (has anyone ever seen someone pay for gas with their cell phone?...not me). If its gonna be a nexus, keep it vanilla
As for the Evo tapblet (likely htc flyer), to me, 7 inches is right in the middle of a cell phone and a useable tablet. Its too large to fit in your pocket and too small to type on. anyone ever try typing on a current galaxy tab? its downright annoying, whereas its almost intuitive to type with 2 hands on the ipad, simply bc the "more normal" size landscape keyboard

I would love to see a webos phone back on sprint. Its a really great ui and had it been advertised, without a doubt it would have taken off. The first commercial I ever saw for the pre was when verizon got it. There were so many palm users in the past that would have been all over this phone, had they known much of anything about it.

Im still all for sprint not having the iphone. i think for the end user, as long as you dont want an iphone, youre better off on a carrier without it. Its no secret that sprint is pretty securely in 3rd place with the major carriers, and they are doing everything they can to get new customers and keep existing ones. Very noticeable when you need to speek to CS with a problem. youre talking 24 hours from phone call to a replacement phone showing up at your door, whereas it might take that long to get a human on the phone with Vz or ATT.

Anywho, just my 2 cents. I hope more than anything I prove myself wrong, bc im up for an upgrade this summer!

I'm thinking the 3d function of this new evo will be something that can be turned off and on as you need to like with 4g so to me its not a big deal even if it sucks as long as the get everything else right I'm all in.

Also, a 3D phone will perform even better in 2D. Either way, the buyer benefits.

The most amusing part are the simpletons that thought for whatever reason that all Sprint would have for 2011 was the Evo Shift and Echo.

It's not like they weren't told over and over that Sprint would launch new flagship phones in the summer.

This is true. Its just that some people will complain no matter what, especially around here.

3d another gimick wish companies would work on battery life. Id love to be able to use my phone as much as I want and keep it off a charger for a day.

Strange I use my Evo all day without having to charge it. I use it for an hour or two for music...browse the internet all the time and even use the bluetooth for my stereo to make calls.

I'm not rooted or running a stock rom either. I just changed the amount of syncs on things and how often it does it. That's just me though. I usually have 20-30% left by the end of the day.

I know a lot of previous Palm users who jumped on the Pre and HATED it. The problem isn't with WebOs or even the U/I. The problem is with the craptacular product that Palm released. The Pre is a pile. Every Pre owner I have known has broken their phone in some way, shape, or form. My sister went through 3 of them, and she doesn't even hardly use her phone. WebOs is a very nice platform that does a lot of great things. Unfortuantely, it gets put on crappy phones. Anyway, Evo 3d sounds super neat to me. :D

im almost gonna laugh if they use the same 1500mah battery on the new evo. I think the battery life was the single biggest complaint when it came out (confirmed by a number of sprint/htc employees). yes, the processors are getting more efficient, but a 4.3inch screen, esp if in 3d, is simply gonna be a battery hog.

Enough with the negative speculation though! Im up for an upgrade this summer and i want something to be excited about!

    form vs function

    slim vs longer life

1 full day vs 2 full days

I personally like the slim and sexy

So many people say they want better battery life but I haven't had a problem with mine for a while. When I was at work with a low signal and some bad apps on it, the thing would die from a full charge in literally 7 hrs with no real use. Ever since I cleaned up some apps, altered some settings (but not so much I lose functionality of the phone) I can go 2 days on a charge without much problem.
If the new Evo 3D has the same battery as the current Evo I won't have a problem with that at all.

We can only hope Sprint never allows HTC to get a no bid contract for the Evo.

Sprint should allow all phone makers to submit their designs and prices, and select the best performing, most reliable phone of the bunch.

Either HTC has what it takes to be the best in a competition or they don't. Either way, the consumer will win.
