Has anyone used this? I want to flash 4.3 on my phone but I need some better directions than the site gave. My phone is rooted with oden 3.04 still using stock rom. Is there a simpler better rom out there to use?

It doesn't get any easier than that lol ... All the flashing instructions are right there in the Op..

Update your recovery to latest TWRP, CWM, Philz, whatever you are using

I flashed the rom on the phone with Oden 3.04. Will I have to flash one of these recoveries before I flash the new rom? Have android system recovery <3e>

    Download ROM: got that covered!

Download wifi fix from downloads section: check!

Download wifi fix from downloads section: Check!

Flash rom, wifi fix, then knox apps remove: Check!

If you have issues with Superuser, try flashing this: SuperSU Download
If I have trouble with this how will I know?

If you have issues with data, I highly suggest flashing the MK3 modem http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=2538978
I suppose this means if my apps won't go back on the phone?

Is there a way I can do this and get my apps back on the phone easily, without having to reinstall them all again?
I have some of the apps on the SD card with GL to SD. I guess I will have to put those back on individually.
I will copy all the files on the phone to my computer before I do any of this.

If you have problems with root(meaning you lose it) then flash the supersu download. And the mk3 modem data issue is if you lose 3g/4g, nothing to do with apps. And to keep your apps, use Titanium Backup or My backup pro before you flash this and just restore them after.

thanks for that info. One question I still have is since I rooted with Oden and didn't put another type of recovery on the phone do I need to flash one of the afore mentioned recoveries before flashing the rom? Is one of those recoveries better than another?

Yes, you will need to flash a custom recovery. Philz is getting a lot of praise lately. It's touch based CWM. It's what I'm presently using. It can be found here.

I am a bit confused as I haven't been keeping up for a while.

I have a rooted stock 4.1.2 S3 with TWRP recovery. It is giving me the update nag.

Can I just download a 4.3 rooted stock ROM and flash it with TWRP?

I am getting the confusion from reading Knox, no Knox, MK3 Odin etc....

With the s3, in short, if you have Knox, and stock setup, nothing and I mean nothing you can do to avoid tripping Knox. I am probably going to get the s3 so I've been doing homework and research. At this time of the phone is 4.3 it will have knox. To get a Rom installed you either need a stock recovery, and to get said recovery onto the phone, it will take pc Odin to install it with, so there goes the Knox trigger.
Unless someone has difinitavely flashed a recovery onto thier phones, and can confirm it, then it can't be fine on a global scale.
There are some of cases that people that have flashed just fine, this is a a rare occasion and its most always just root, you still have to get a custom recovery installed, and there is the problem that causes Knox to trigger. It's not root really that causes it, it the custom recovery part that causes it.
For me it's not root only that I want, the only real reason I root is to use a recovery to flash roms, other than removing bloatware, they really isn't a reason to root for me. I haven't found any major speed differences.

Until there is more of a global way of putting a recovery on, I really don't wanna trigger Knox as of yet.
Once I get the phone, (if it has 4.3 that is) I will give it a good month long testing before I even think about blowing the warranty, but that's me. Boost isn't really not as forgiving as others when it comes to warranty stuff, that's why I'm doing this.
People are rooting mainly because they don't care really about knox at all. So it really boils down to if you don't care about tripping Knox and thus voiding warranty, then your free to do any flashing you want like normal, but until there is a way to get a recovery on without triggering Knox, we just have to wait, or feel with it.

This thread is about a rom based off of the 4.3 update. It is safe to flash (for people without the "official update ") to their phones. Because it doesn't contain Knox and all the other unsafe firmware.

Second rooting an android goes way beyond simply removing bloatware and flashing roms. You can flash different kernels to get the most out of your CPU, or how about going back to an earlier baseband if the updated one seems sluggish. Or what about zepplinrox's v6 turbocharger? And who can forget about pimp my rom? Some serious changes to the phone with that puppy. Or what about the simple ability to force/push apps that were once "not compatible" and get them to work anyways. There's tons of benefits to root. And I do not believe your s3 would come with 4.3 the phones ship with 4.12 that's it. They want u to update it when opened.
That being said Knox is a big issue here and yes there is loads of people getting past Knox. Just as u said it's (almost) impossible to root/rom w/o tripping the Knox bootloader.

How do I know if I am sitting on a Knox bootloader? I haven't updated anything in a long time and just have a rooted stock ROM.

If I don't currently have Knox, is it safe to flash this ROM and the mods mentioned in the XDA thread ?

The main reason why I want to do something is to get rid of that damn update nag I keep getting.

If you go to your settings app and scroll down to "about phone" then navigate to android version. 4.1.2 is what u should be running. If your android version says 4.3 than you've updated to Knox. If your on 4.1.2 than you can safely flash this. And yes it will stop the nagging.
There are other ways to stop the nag. A quick Google search should provide results in your favor.

Oh plus if your getting the nag than your not updated. It wants u to update. If u don't already have a recovery grab (on the playstore) rom installer. Open the app and swipe left to right. Hit recovery and tell it (if you don't have a custom recovery like cwm twerp..etc.) unsupported recovery. Than simply choose a new recovery. I like twrp (team Win recovery project) and tell it to flash when prompted.
Than go here get a copy and turn phone off. Hold volume up home and power. Now do a backup. Than factory wipe 3 times. (Just to be sure) than install the download file. Bam your up to date and No more nagging.

I don't have twrp and I didn't try to freeze some update apps as suggested in another thread. Didn't work. I will do the 4.3 update tonight :)
    Thanks !!

That should have said "I do have twrp" and I "DID try to freeze.." lol

P.S. Titanium backup can save your texts and calls. There's a free version that should do the trick. If you have a paid version you can do "batch" operations like installing all your backed up apps plus their data all at once. Very cool app for flashing a new rom and u don't wanna lose that important number or text.

    No problem at all.

Yep, got the paid version. I usually back everything up to my external sd card, then remove it during the wiping. I'm a bit paranoid when it comes to my external card data ;-)

Is it normal on this ROM that it does not indicate if you are on 3G or LTE? I just see the signal strenght.

Is there a fix for this ?

    Edit: Found it :)
