I want to start off by saying that there are so many good ROMs out by our great developers; however, it seems many are not far off from stock. So far, I have been on cn for like two months now. I've tried a few different ROMs in between but came across nothing that made me stay and ended up back on cn.

This got me thinking/ reminiscing the og. There were so many different ROMs that were no where near similar. I remember when team nocturnal dropped the xplod ROM or when deck released reloaded; those were different than everything I had tried. I know that having sense allowed for more variety, but i feel like many of the roms coming out arent much different or cant compare to cn. So my question is, has anyone can across a ROM that was different fromeverything else?

I had this very same discussion with Mizzou about a week ago. All the ROM's available to us are very similar and aren't as feature rich or as good as CNA IMO. I'm yearning for a game changer.....something that is drastically different from what we're used to, just like in the OG days. I guess we can always flash MIUI or get an IPhone as Mizzou put it lol !? I completely understand your feelings on this, but what is it that we're looking for exactly?....Touchwiz!?

At the end of the day, I don't mind rocking a stock look, with a few minor customizations here and there. At this point, I'm more concerned about performance, stability, and battery life.

CNA has so many features. If you're looking at roms purely from a feature set, then you really have found the only ROM you need to flash. However, for people not named Frenchy, other ROMs out there offer some different stuff, but honestly, a lot of it falls into theming. The Nexus is an AOSP phone, and that means that all your ROMs are going to be based off of stock AOSP. So sure, there's no sense or touchwiz to liven it up when you're tired of the same ol same ol.

If you really want to occupy your time, start looking into theming aspects of your phone. The options with the Gnex are pretty incredible. Try theme chooser themes, icon themes, try using the UOT kitchen to make your own themes if you get bored.

And I know this is a ROMs thread, but honestly you could get lost in all the kernel options for this phone. Keep in mind that kernels for CDMA and GSM are universal, so all the kernels for the Gnex on XDA will work on our toroplus. The list is insane.

    Franco
    Air
    Trinity
    FuguMod
    Tiny
    Lean
    Jame Bond
    AK
    Samurai

And I know that there are others, but you get the idea. I honestly believe this phone is only as boring as you want to make it.

I think I'll pass on the iPhone option french. But you're right, I am looking forthat game changer. Problem is, I don't have a clue what that is.

Mizz you're right, theming is the option and that's pretty much what I have been doing. And yes the kernel options on this phone are AMAZING. I have not have problems with any. But again, with aosp, there is only so much that can be done.

I think we are probably a little bit spoiled. A lot of us came from the OG, so let's do a bit of a comparison.

On the OG, we had two options. Stock (sense) or AOSP. Sense was clearly very cool. It was a slick interface, offered great widgets, had great social networking integration and was overall a pretty good user experience out of the box. So why did we like aosp? Well, it was certainly faster. There was no Sense bloat (which got much worse over time with 3.0 and 3.5 builds of Sense) so that meant more speed and better battery life and better customization options. But it certainly didn't look as good. And often times it could be buggy. To this day I still think Gingerbread is pretty ugly. It was functional, but it's certainly not flashy.

So let's move forward. ICS hit and in my opinion it was a HUGE step forward in Android presentation. Out with the puke green and in with the holo-blue. The contacts app IMHO was as good or better than what Sense offered. The dialer was more functional and had great support with contact photos that could be high resolution. Then before you know it, Jellybean got released which took what we loved about ICS and made it fluid....expandable notifications, quick replies to texts, calls etc. Suddenly stock Android is on par with anything Sense can offer us without the added bloat from HTC or Samsung.

So now what's left? More customization options. We have CNA for that. I'm just not sure what other kind of game changer that there is available. The "problem" is that we have great AOSP roms with high amounts of customization and no bugs. I think it can be boring at times for a rooted user to have a bugless experience. Other than going to Windows Phone or iPhone, all we can really do for a "game changer" is to wait for 4.2. And honestly, how much can you really improve? I certainly don't long for a more robust feature set within Android.

I think I might have found my game changer. The sorcery jb ROM looks pretty cool and got a lot of positive feedback on xda. I'm going to give it a shot and report back.

This is almost exactly what I was thinking and I'm glad you typed it out so I didn't have to. I agree with everything you said but with so many third party apps, you can get so much customization. We have the CM theme chooser to work with, Nova Launcher, Go Launcher, Go SMS, Beautiful Widget, and so many other apps that allow us to theme a lot of stuff. Between those you can almost get more customization that Sense allows, you just have to be willing to search for stuff.

    Link Please.

Does it have as many options as CNA, I have been on that since built 3.2 or so I think.

Just started a new thread with the link. Didn't realize frenchy ninja'd me.

It looks ridiculous with the customizations. French/Mizz, how you liking it so far? Game changer?

I will probably download it and try it out tomorrow, also completely off topic but I am in Baltimore right now and am getting 13 down on LTE!!!

Definitely the game changer we were looking for. Cna is great but nowhere near this in terms of options. It's insane.

Exactly what we needed. This thing is ridiculous! Flashed last night and still haven't set up all the way. Crazy!

For anyone on the fence about this, just do it. Seriously you can do almost anything, it's all baked into the rom. Install the 4.2 camera, keyboard and clock? No problem. Boatload of custom lockrings? It's there. Boot animation? Check. It's astounding.

Hello tdevaughn, great to see developers coming to our little community here. I have yet to try your ROM out but from what I've been reading, its a winner. Do you happen to have any new one the inverted apps? When I try to download them, the site says its down.

Not with 4.2 inverted gapps. Do have inverted 4.1 though. When I get home will post them up. Gapps can be found in out Verizon thread in the mean time

Thanks, I already have the regular apps but I love the inverted apps. But from what I read I won't even be looking at the apps lol. I'll let everyone know what I think after I play with this tomorrow.

All I can say is this ROM is bananas. I'm dumbfounded by all the customization options at your finger tips! Earlier today I was telling Mizzou on GTalk, I stayed up till 1:30 am, setting my phone up lol! This is definitely a WINNER! Thanks Team Sourcery for all your hard work! You've taken the monotony out of Gnex ROM's, and added a little magic.
