so that you can make calls on your wifi at home or work. VIOP calls.
this saves them traffic on their network... it is a win for them!

Thanks for the heads-up about it! Had no clue, but downloading now. Hopefully, it's also a fix to all the Kitkat issues that were popping up intermittently. My battery drain isn't quite as bad as it was after the initial update, but still hoping for the best.

Oh yeah, I remember reading about that. My only question about it is if that means Airrave becomes irrelevant or not...or if they're trying to phase out the Airrave.

airrave is for ANYONE with sprint, that is in area to use.. YOUR wifi for VOIP calling.

now... your phone will always use VOIP when on Wifi signal.
customers pay SPRINT to use their network, but SPRINT pushes you off on YOUR own network for calls and data.
over 70% of the day.. users on in HOME or WORK wifi connections.
so... do NOTE3 users get a reduction on their SPRINT bills????
    win for SPRINT

I'll just keep my Wi-Fi off when I'm not near my own router. So that I know the quality of inter-net and won't save Sprint to much money. .....

Looks like a win for all of us. I have always enabled wifi at home and frequent a few places with weak cell service and correspondingly strong wifi.

And people with wifi that has phase jitter, which doesn't affect downloading, web browsing, etc., will find that when they're on a phoone call using their wifi, the call iis almost useless. (Most ISPs don't even measure phase jitter unless you're on an Internet+landline plan. But there are VoIP test sites that will measure yours for you. And many people are amazed that their internet connection is useless for VoIP.)

A quick Google search found this site for one. It measures jitter too.

Not sure I'd be happy about this update...

My phone won't update by itself. I think I'll pass on this one.
