Hey Sprint customers, are you guys having the same problems with your touch screen as Boost customers?

The biggest problem we are having is with anything that requires dragging. When we try to move icons or shortcuts for example, it really doesn't work. Here are some videos of the problem in action:

If you guys aren't having this problem, can someone please post a copy of your ROM/Firmware here so we can try to get it on our phones?

Try resting a second finger/thumb on the screen while dragging with the first. Doing that takes away the "sensitivity" on my ultra.

Just launched today on Sprint. I walked into a corporate store today and they had just set up the demo unit. I'm not sure any Sprint users actually have their hands on it yet.

Although I must admit I tried moving icons around the launcher screen in the store, and it seemed fine. Then again, the boost model I've been playing with didn't seem too bad either, so maybe I'm just not seeing the problem?

I just got it yesterday on Sprint and it has the same problem. I read someone had better luck using their thumb and I did too. Scratched my head and thought it might be the larger surface area the thumb puts on the screen. Then I tried to use the whole finger print pad of my finger instead of just the tip of my finger, and that works great.

Hmm... It actually looks like you are applying pressure to the screen when it jumps like that?

Like, the first time it jumps back to where you started, your middle finger had come down and appears to have put pressure on the upper right corner of the display, which might explain why it suddenly went back at least that first time.

In fact, throughout most of this demonstration, there appears to be fingers applying pressure elsewhere on the body as well. Could that be a part of it?

Personally, I've been trying one for a couple of weeks (a boost model that has been deactivated) and have not noticed this happening. When I heard about it here, I tried to recreate it. I guess I can see it sometimes happening and being annoying, but I never saw it happen on its own until then.

Screen flicks and Swype work as expected according to the way I always use them (phone held in one hand, finger on other hand making contact with the display. Never any pressure applied to housing. I learned the hard way that keyboard housing devices can be delicate in the past).

I have one I am testing(boost model) for Odin development and it is exactly like the video. It really sucks.. Awesome phone but it makes simple tasks a pain... They really need to push out an update. I honestly am shocked that Samsung put this on the market like this. I put in my call to Samsung to let them know about it.

P.S. they so told me to factory reset the phone, lol. I politely laughed and asked if that was their answer for everything. The rep was a bit stunned by that question...

Thanks for taking the time to call them about this. The rep I talked to was a bit less condescending, but he claimed that it was the first he had heard about it. That might have actually been the case at the time since the phone was only out for a week or two when I called, but by now they are well aware of the problem and are blowing smoke up our asses. Such a shame that they couldn't just get the software right in the first place, and even more of a shame that they wont admit their mistake and commit to fixing it.

not yet.. Its being a pain. I'm trying like hell myself and so are interdpth, Shabbypenguine, weirdfate, and a few others from XDA Developers. Honestly they are your best shot. Those guys are gurus.. Im just learning how to do this. None of us has turned up a finished product yet but im sure something will soon. just keep in the threads here man.. Those guys i mentioned and others make this an awesome community in the making.. I have no doubt big things will turn up here. trust me.

i am having a VERY annoying screen issue as well. Some of what has been mentioned before, but I have looked every where to find someone having the exact same annoying problem i have been having. I bought this phone a week or so ago (switched from prevail cause i hated the touch screen keyboard), and this phone seemed to be the better phone for me. As soon as I made my first call I started to regret my decision. While I am in a call, the touch screen does not lock. So you name it, it gets hit by my cheek while in call. Mute button, end call, numbers, my cheek even manages to make other calls while already in call. This is EXTREMELY aggravating cause this happens every time, and its mostly the mute button gets hit which makes it very difficult to carry on a conversation. I made the assumption something was wrong with that particular phone and exchanged it for another BUT the same thing happens with this one. It doesn't matter if I hit the lock button after answering a call or not, the screen does not lock at all..Anyone have any solutions on this?

and forgot to add. when the mute button does get hit, the screen will lock up so i can turn mute off..i will hit the unlock button and the screen blinks on and goes right back off..the only way to turn the mute off is to slide the keyboard out or wait for whoever is on the phone with u to hang up

I came from the prevail as well... the ultra has a sensor next to the led that detects how close it gets to your face, when close and in a call it automaticly shuts off the screen... it took me a while to figure that out... I got fustrated evey time I was done with a call the screen was off so I would push the power button to turn it on, it would turn on from the sensor then back off from the power button...

Give it a couple of seconds without using the power button for the sensor to activate... if the sensor is not working then take it back again.
