Well, I would love to put 2.2 on my phone as I don't foresee it coming out soon enough.

Also, I tend to notice that 2.1 slows down quite a bit after a while. It's the most annoying thing in the world, and I'm hoping that is resolved in 2.2.

So... That's where you guys come to play! I don't know where to start when it comes to putting on 2.2. I have it rooted already. I just don't know where to go from there. I would like to know what exactly I should do. I've already backed up my application data with Titanium so I'm not worried about losing anything.

So please let me know! Maybe....... Even put it in a number list? :)

    Love you guys! Thanks!

Download Team BlackHat and install 2.3.15 from the app.

i recommend not doing that...you would have to move to 2.2 before you did that anyway

with root explorer and move your SU file in the /system/bin to the /system/xbin

you need to get your hands on the 2.2 update .zip....i think you can get it off rom manager.

then you need to install that....in some cases you need to wipe data and cache or even flash the sbf root and then install.

once you do that and are running 2.2 stable id run FlyX final and one of beasleys build.props

i wouldnt even move to 2.3.13

True, ROM manager would be the better way to go, that already has root packaged into it.

Rom manager is the easiest way to go

Go to dwnld rom, stock images, and 2.2 is there waiting for you..

What happens if I want to return to stock? I "flash" an SBF, but I don't know how to go about doing that. I've been toying around with the idea of installing a deoxed ROM, but it's hard for me to go for it when I'm not too sure on what to do. It was a lot easier when I had a BlackBerry Storm and leaks came flying out. I just had to install those like a normal OS installation.

Anyway, I'm assuming I need to purchase the premium version in order to install 2.2 from there. Do I need to install the bootstrapper as well? I did purchase that a while ago in hopes to put a ROM on my phone.

To learn about flashing an sbf - goto rootzwiki.com

You will want to have premium ROM Manager and Droid X Bootstrapper to install a custom ROM. You press the top button on the bootstrapper app and then the top button on the ROM Manager app to flash the clockwork recovery mod.

Then you go down to download ROMs and select the stock 2.2 version (when upgrading from 2.1) and choose to make a backup of your current ROM. Most people suggest wiping data/cache but that's up to you, really. Keep in mind that you can't restore your 2.1 ROM backup unless you are running 2.1!!!! (sbf flash)

    All this requires root.

I realize 2.2 is coming tomorrow, but I don't want to upgrade to it and lose root and maybe even lose the chance to flash back to stock 2.1 or put a rom on it.

I've got bootstrap installed, ROM Manager with Clockwork installed, and I backed up my current ROM. Now, should I move the SU.apk? If so, where do I move it and how do I go about moving it?

You do not have to move su with the rom manager update to 2.2. Just download it and follow the steps.

I updated, and it's looking like the Marketplace is EXTREMELY slow to respond to anything and I'm connected to WiFi so it's confusing as to why that's happening. Anyone with any guesses? Also, now that I'm on the unofficial 2.2, what are some suggestions you guys could give me on where to go from here or what mods to install etc? :)

FYI, you do not need to purchase Rom manager to install the verizon 2.2

1st (get universandroot) and root your 2.1 with that

then get bootstrapper (free on website or you can pay for it in the market $2 I believe) -> click Bootstrap Recover, then click Reboot Recovery

(Can someone verify that these steps are necessary? I know it works if you do them, but I'm not sure they are necessary when using the rom manager?)

Next get the rom manager -> Flash ClockworkMod Recovery, then Rom Manager -> Download Rom -> Stock Images -> Verizon Droid X 2.2

I'd do a backup and wipe to be safe (both check boxes). Make sure you have backed up anything you need first with myBackup or Titanium backup.

Your phone will reboot and install a rooted 2.3.9.

----------------------you will have to wait for help with 2.3.15 but here is how 2.3.13 upgrade went, it might be similar)
From there I donloaded the 2.3.13 Nandroid with the market fix and moved it to the proper folder
    clockworkmod -> backup

    Then I did the following:
get/recover bootstrapper -> click Bootstrap Recovery

rom manager to Reboot into Recovery (make sure you creat another nandroid backup for 2.3.9 if you want it and wiped data again). From the clockwork screen I did an advanced system restore, pointing it to the nandroid of 2.3.13.

I'm kinda waiting for a nandroid of the leaked 2.3.15 with the market fix, but maybe someone will post directions on how to update to 2.3.15 instead + install the marketfix.

I don't know if there is a nandroid of 2.3.15 leaked
