Rooting the Fusion 2 Step by Step, by Shagerty

Step 1 : Download this file here.

Step 2 :Put the Huawei Fusion 2 Recovery Root.zip on your desktop.

Step 3 :Download and install the Huawei Fusion Drivers. Install By running the .exe here.

Step 4 :Make a folder called "Huawei Fusion 2" on your desktop.

Step 5 :Extract Zip from step 2 into your fusion 2 folder.

    Step 6 :Turn off phone.

Step 7 :Reboot fastboot by holding Volume Down and Power buttons simultaneously for 10-20 seconds.
(It will freeze at ATT logo. This is fastboot, it's a freeze to be happy about)

Step 8 :Connect phone to computer.

Step 9 :Open the folder you made and open the extracted zip (if you haven't extracted do this now)

Step 10 : Double click "Run Me"

Step 11 :Type "fastboot devices" and hit enter this will confirm if you are connected via fastboot (you are) if your connected it will list some numbers and letters and the words fastboot next to the numbers and letters.

Step 12 :Now flash modified recovery by typing "fastboot flash recovery recovery.superrecovery.img" into the "run me" window and hitting enter.

Step 13 :Unplug after the process runs says finished. And gives you the total time.

Step 14 :Remove back of phone and take out battery for 10-15 seconds.

Step 15 :Reinsert battery hold volume up and power button simultaneously until it boots into recovery (15-20 seconds of holding both buttons)

Step 16 :Reboot Device by selecting the "reboot device" option with the volume buttons (it should already start with reboot highlighted) so just press the power button to reboot.

Step 17 :Grab a beer and relax as your device reboots with SuperSU (main root app)!

Enjoy and thanks to robotic buddy for initial guide and download links, also special thanks to RFE for the 1st Root method on the Huawei Fusion 2!

    *********IF IT SAYS WAITING FOR DEVICE, IT IS ONE OF FOUR THINGS;

    1) YOU DID NOT PUT THE PHONE INTO FASTBOOT CORRECTLY GO AHEAD AND REPEAT STEP 7 THEN RETRY,

    2) YOU SIMPLY NEED TO UNPLUG AND REPLUG PHONE AND WAIT APPROXIMATELY 25-30 SECONDS (SHOULD HAPPEN IMMEDIATELY UNLESS DRIVERS WHERE INSTALLED INCORRECTLY),

    3) INCORRECTLY INSTALLED ADB DRIVERS, REINSTALL THE ADB DRIVERS FROM STEP 3,

    4) YOU DID NOT NAME THE FOLDERS CORRECTLY, OR DIRECTED THE CMD TERMINAL TO THE WRONG FOLDER, MAKE SURE YOU FOLLOW EVERY STEP TO A T INCLUDING CAPITALIZATIONS, SYMBOLS, AND SPACES OF FOLDERS AND CMD PROMPTS*********

    Hi Shagerty,
I moved this guide into the all things root sub-forum.
Please Link to source of the original guide.

Also, is there any special information that goes along with this? Such as, only works on specific software version, etc...? Would be nice to include whether or not it works for any Fusion 2 and if not, which ones it will work for.

Thanks for posting this, I will add it to the all things root guide sticky under the "Guides" section.

The guide was written by me this morning.

RFE and Robotic buddy came up with the tools and methods.

I compiled all that into what I thought was hopefully a coherent, cohesive, and NOOB friendly step by step walkthrough.

As far as I know the fusion only has 2.3.6 GB and can update to 2.3.7 after rooting. (however that is supposedly a patch to get rid of root)

It's official name is the Huawei Fusion 2 "8665".

Did this all on a Windows 7 64bit computer.

Should work on 32bit windows as well.

Probably is a way to do it with ubuntu/linux. Don't know about mac. But I ******* hate mac, so who cares?

Okay thank you! I thought you mentioned it came from another guide but if you wrote it all yourself then that's great.

As for the other stuff, I'm not familiar with the device so I figured I'd ask just in case it wasn't for everyone. I added to the ATR sticky. Thanks :)

I followed what was either roboticbuddy or rfe's guide. But I wrote that one in its entirety minus the Q.1 How do I root my device* that was from the guide I followed other than that I wrote this guide step for step to try and make it as noob friendky as possible. I felt that robotic buddy or rfe (whoevers guide it was) was understandable to someone who had rooted and modded before but not the type of person who buys this phone. Its an entry level go phone I figured its for a lot of people just getting into android for the first time.

It sounds like the pc is not recognizing the device. Do you have all the proper drivers installed?

What did command prompt return from step 11?

We're going to have to start being very specific and try to get on the same page. I have absolutely no experience (zero) with this device. I can try to help you follow the guide as best as possible but I will need as much information as possible from you :)

You said in your private message that you were stuck on step 12. So you went through all steps (1-11) without any problems and followed them all exactly?

    Step 11 says:
So when you did step 11, what happened? Did you see the numbers and letters and the word fastboot next to the numbers and letters?

If no, then it sounds like the computer isn't recognizing the device. If yes, something else must be the problem and we will have to figure out what it is.

If it stays on waiting for device unplug and reconnect. If that didnt fix it your not in fastboot. Unplug take battery out and wait 10 seconds. Put it back in and hold volume down and power for 25 seconds. Then plug in.

Also make sure all of the files you created have the proper name's. That is important otherwise you are not going to be telling the cmd prompt the correct folder to pull the recovery and super user images.

Also could you confirm whether you are on stock recovery or cwm?

This is AMAZING, I read the other guides by RFE and Robotic buddy, and they left me feeling a bit apprehensive about rooting.

I am a total NOOB when it comes to android, and rooting.

After reading your guide, and following the instructions, I sit here with a fully rooted Fusion 2. It has given me the ability to remove the bloatware AT&T had preinstalled. (I use T-Mobile)

I signed up to this forum so I could thank you. So Thank you very much!

This was easy and stress free.

    You ROCK!

    -Edit-
**The link to download the file was broken, but I downloaded it from the guide by RFE/Robotic buddy last night before I decided not to Root until an easier method arose. Found this guide about an hour ago. Thanks again!
