Help Stopping "Calender" reminders

I using the CalenGoo app on my HTC Desire Z phone which I like.

however, whenever I get a reminder, I get two reminders appear. #

One is the CalenGo application reminding me - which is fine

The other is the "Calender" service - which I think is the HTC process com.htc.bgp.

I have tried stopping this service - but it will not stop

IS there a way of stopping these "multiple" reminders?

With the HTC Calendar open there should be a setting in Menu/Settings to disable notifications.
