Root Stuck on root

ok i am stuck on step 6 of the manual install from tutorial http://androidforums.com/all-things-root-sprint-hero/38911-guide-root-rom-faq-tutorial.html . I have successfully rooted my phone just fine now im trying to do my buddies and im stuck. I have the SDK on the c drive and it sees the phone. i get to step 6 and i dont get the enjoy the shell. i get this message ( [1] Killed /data/local/asroot2 /system/bin/sh). I dont know what im doing wrong this time. Anyone have any ideas?

although meant for Telus This will work on all GSM HTC Hero's. Follow the guide from where you are stuck. see if that helps. It is providing positive results for lots of people.

I would suggest starting from the step 70 (after the downgrade process). Should FlashRec not work right away you phone will have to be downgraded, and you can start from step 1.

Haaaaaaaang on guys.

The guide you linked to dumsum19 is for the Sprint (CMDA) Hero, but this is the GSM section so djbasik's is for the GSM hero. You do NOT want to follow the wrong guide.

Which type of phone does your friend have dumsum19?
