My phone is stuck on the "SAMSUNG" screen. I have removed the battery many times attempting to reboot but still can not get beyond this screen to activate a reboot. I have have held the volume switch and pressed power button as I have read this should allow a menu to appear to allow a reboot. This did not work.

Does anyone have an idea of what I can do to fix my phone?
    Thank you.

....so, to continue. I am not at all a computer person or someone who knows how to work with electronics. I have been searching franticly to find a solution. I found many saying they use ODIN to reload a PIT and a TAR file. So, I did this and it shows to have completed this with a "PASS". But, when I power up my phone it still does not go past the "SAMSUNG" screen.

    Anyone have any recommendations?

These are the files that I used used with ODIN. I tried a couple just because I was desperate and I pretty much have no clue what I am doing.

    Stock-i500-VZW-pit.pit
    s1_odin_20100512.pit
    DL09.tar.md5
    EB01_DXC.tar.md5

That link is taking me to download the one I already tried (EB01_DXC.tar.md5) I have loaded this one several times using ODIN and it always passed, but my phone still does not go past the "SAMSUNG" screen. I am able to put the phone into to the download mode by holding down the lower volume button and then plugging in the USB cable.

Just plugging in the USB cable does not promt my computer to recognize the phone. I downloaded KIES thinking this would connect, but it also does not recognize when the phone is connected with the USB cable.

I appreciate the help. Keep telling me ideas. I will try anything before spending $$ to fix or replace this phone.

Do you have CWM installed? Can you get into recvoery to do a data wipe?

I did not have CWM. Had to google it to even kind of know what this is. I just loaded it using ODIN which showed "RESET" was complete. Let ODIN turn the phone off. I reinstalled the battery and turned phone one. Still only have the "SAMSUNG" screen.

I have not been able to get the phone into recovery mode. At least not by the way I have found to do it, by holding the volume up/down button and the power button. It only turns on when I do this and if I hold it long enough it turns off and back on back to the "SAMSUNG" screen.

I have tried again using ODIN with more files I found that are said to put the phone back to "factory" settings. All load successfully. Here are the files I used ODIN to install:

    Stock-i500-VZW-Kernel.tar.md5
    Stock-i500-VZW-Recovery.tar.md5
    Stock-i500-VZW-System.tar.md5
    Stock-i500-VZW-pit.pit

This is the version of ODIN I am using:
    Odin3_v1.3.exe

Phone still powers on to display the "SAMSUNG" screen and will not go past this.

Not sure what I need to do. Should I send the phone off to be tested and fixed?

If they say 'pass' when you install them, I'm not sure what else it could be.

I gave up on trying to get it to work. I sent it off to be fixed.
