Anyone else use another persons upgrade from your family plan to get your X? My girlfriend and I are on a family plan and she had her "New Every 2" Upgrade available so we bought the phone using that. It's supposed to be delivered tomorrow so we were gonna go to the verizon store and have them swap it around so the X will be on my line and shes going to take my storm. Has anyone else done this? Were the people at the verizon store able to do it for you without any problems?

I have done it several times, to include the X. Verizon doesn't have a problem at all with it.

I just did that with mine. I called customer service (*611) and they had to activate the new X on her line, then re-activate her old phone, then activate the X on my line. It was quite interesting being the only phones I could call CS on were our two cell lines, so there was a lot of steps involved to get this done. They were very happy to do it for me though.

you don't even have to bring it to the store. Just log into your verizon account online when the phone arrives and go to activate phone under your number and put the x's information in. It will then switch it for you. You then have to click her number and enter in the phone she will be using, unless she is keeping her same phone.

I did this for my Droid and intend to do it for my X as well. I pay for my wife's line and my mother's line on my plan, and since my wife lost her phone in a cab recently, she's getting the hand-me-down Droid to replace the Storm I she got stuck with. My mom doesn't care about the fancy stuff, so she's keeping her LG Voyager.

I took my wife's upgrade originally, and this time around I took my mother's early upgrade for the feature phone early upgrade promotion. They haven't given me trouble about it in the past, and I'm hoping they won't care this time as I intend to leave the Voyager in service and remove the Storm. If they care, I'll just wait until 8/9 (when the Voyager was due for an upgrade, anyway) and activate it then.

I couldn't do this online...it said I activate the phone under the # that I ordered the upgrade through. I called and explained it and the guy walked me through the process. Of course, I was going from a dumb phone to a smart phone so that might explain the difference.

I called CS to see if the second line (mine) could also get the discount, and was told that they cannot override their system to do this. Instead, the lady suggested I go into one of the stores and talk to the people there about possibly upgrading both lines and still qualify for the pricing since we still have 6 months left on our contract. The stores are on commission so the managers have some leeway as to what they will allow. Needless to say, I was able to get both lines updated and get the discounts. One phone got the instant rebate and the other got the mail in rebate.

Do you use Outlook or Gmail? I use both and was able to transfer over all my data within a matter of minutes without having to call or go into a Verizon store.

I use Gmail. I had an Old G1 a couple years back so I know that will sinc up fine with all my contacts, but my gf has an envy and wants to go into the store so they can transfer her contact list from that to the storm.

Ahh, OK. I remember having to go into the store to have the contacts transferred over, or worse you having to type of the stuff in again. Man, I do not miss those days anymore. :)
