My phone automatically switches off when the battery level is about 20%

    Is this normal?

Mine powers down when it dips below 1%.

Are you sure it's shutting off and not going into some sort of hibernate/sleep mode?

There are settings you can change to determine what the phone will do at a certain battery level, maybe try changing those and see what happens? I'd find out exactly where, but I have to go to work so I don't have time unfortunately, sorry.

    Thanks to all
I have tried to find these settings airplaneman so when you have time, I'd appreciate a bit of guidance

Just in case anyone else has this problem I am posting my solution.

The phone was initially sent to SE service dept but the problem persisted.

I then exchanged the battery and the problem was solved.
    So simple!
