Can people please convince me that Android is better? I've been using my droid x for 4 days and I've had to worry about battery life and reception more than I ever did with my iPhone3g.

I also find just the little things really inconvenient, like double tap to zoom and then having to move the screen around to find the text; iphone automatically does that.

Small things like the Calendar blows on android, who ever thought that a rectangular long boxes would look nice?

Syncing music and videos are okay with doubletwist, but then again, it's just another set of programs i need to use.

Apps are not as colorful or polished than the iPhone.

Also, why are all the vibrating functions sporadically everywhere and not under the centralized sound&display setting?

Why does auto-focus make a sound when you're in silent mode?!?!

Motorola's Stock UI is incredibly lame and irrelevant. I tried ADW and Launcher pro and they both hogged my precious battery life.

The things i love about android are:

    -Swype
    -Google integration
    - Notifications
-Screen size (though that's not really Android)
    - widgets (especially the nytimes!)

Try looking at the market more and customizable widgets. I came from an iPhone 3G as well and I was just tired of Apple honestly. I feel the Android is much more customizable, you just have to play around with it :)

I am still under the 30 day trial so I can just cancel and return the equipment + restocking fee.

How do you feel about the droid x? do you miss the iphone? Like with the iphone I never had to worry about killing apps, and battery life.

Bottom line, everyone has their own preference....maybe this isn't the phone for you. But personally I do not miss my iPhone one bit!

If you decide to get rid of the X, do not go to the iPhone4, you will more than likely regret that even more. I returned my iphone4 Friday and switched to the x.

You should try a sense phone if interface looks is important to you a la droid incredible. The battery life is rated higher then the iphone 4 asking along with better reception everywhere I go in the country but that's just my experience. Calender with google sync is greaton sense haven't played with the x one u should.try and get a replacement calender there's tons of great ones out there with scrollable widgets and all. Can't even get widgets on ios

Some people are just made for iPhones and some are made for Android. I have colleagues that would never own anything other than an iPhone. Some like Windows some like Macs...just personal preference. You could also just be feeling a little far from "home" where you had been using the iPhone for some time and need to readjust to the new environment.

It's a night and day diff between the 2 OS's. It'll take getting used to versus your iPhone OS "muscle memory", but so worth it. Give it a few weeks and try all the cool stuff you see on this board that others are doing that may interest you. Just give it a little time.

Hi Soapy, so say if I do get another calendar app. I still can't delete the original calendar off my phone. I don't really want clutter in my app drawer. Same thing with the launchers, it doesn't turn off motoblur, it's just redundancy.

What I want is to make my moto x as streamline and minimalistic as possible, but with all the bloatware and motoblur, I can't.

I have no widgets or shortcuts on my X. I use LauncherPro and have all 15 dock buttons set for what I need. I too hate clutter and am a minimalist. My house has no furniture, just levels. JK with that last bit.

You dont have to kill apps. Android has built in app killers that kill the tasks as it needs to. If your Droid X battery is draining very fast then it is likely a faulty handset or battery. I Phone has its issues as well. You just have to play with the Android platform for a bit and you will get used to it.

You really need to adjust sync settings if your battery is poor. FYI the X has better battery life than the Incredible. I can only compare to my ipod 3g and 1g which obviously have pretty good battery life. However my X is just as good when it is surfing using wifi as an ipod.

The Android browser wraps the text which the iphone doesn't.
The calendar can overlay multiple calendars all sync'd.
I just use mass storage mode to copy files and can do it from any machine that way.
Apps do vary. There are some choices that apple will never offer.
Apple's UI is too simplistic for me. I want real info on my home screen.

I'm not bashing apple here because they do some things really well. I'm just trying to point out some benefits in Android that you should consider in weighing your decision. It is a shame that you have to trade things that way and can't have the best from all devices. Best of luck.

It gets better everyday. Keep in mind LiIon batts need about 10-15 charge cycles before they are consistant in holding a good charge (man, I fell like a broken record cause I've said the same thing in quite a few posts lol).

so sell your device and get a device you want.
seems to me like the device is just terrible by your standards.

i think the iphone 4 will suit you just fine;)

My new droid x has a feature that my iphone 3gs, and the new 4 never had.

I think they call it Cell towers.

    At least in my area.

I am hoping the X charges faster than the Iphone, as the iphone un-charges incredibly fast, and charges incredibly slow. Combine the fact that since I moved back up north, I get only 1 bar, and only edge on a good day (no 3g), I really don't have a choice.

When someone comes on any forum with apparent buyer's remorse and asks members to convince him or her that the decision he or she is currently regretting is the right one, we're being asked to do a fool's errand.

If I was you and I was feeling the doubts you are, I would take advantage of the 30 days, acclimate myself to the new platform, and decide after a few weeks if I wanted to stay with the new choice or revert to my previous one. Asking us to convince you that your choice is the correct one is asking the impossible. Only you can do that.

I understand. But, I just wanted to air out the issues I am having in seeing if there are actually ways to mitigate them. I'm super new to android and I am just confused and overwhelmed by the depth of the software.

well for starters the droid x is about to go to froyo. that in itself will bring some changes and even more features. so lets start with what you can try now.

So what you want right now is to streamline things? you want it to be less steps to core functions?

what apps did you use the most in your iphone?
