    hi,

is there any application which can let me edit the data stored on HTC Desire (phone book, messages) directly from my windows laptop.

HTC sync allows me to sync my contacts with MS Outlook, i can edit in outlook and then sync but it seems to have some flaws

also i cannot create a message from my loaptop and sesnd it thru the HTC Desire

Nokia users had Nokia Suite or OVI Suite for this

    thanks in advance

I think the best way to do so (at least for contacts, mail and calendars, messages, I don't know) is to use a Google Account. Have a Desire too, and it works perfect.

I did the same thing, just log onto your google account via PC and change your contacts/calendar etc. Any changes will be synced to your phone. I'm pretty sure any gmail messages saved as draft from your PC will also be available on your phone.

The gmail website allows you to import/export contacts. The export option allows you to export to outlook or to CSV format which i'm sure would give you more options.
