    Welcome aboard!

I'll be moving this to the HTC Desire portion of the site where you'll be able to get more help as the introduction forum is just a place to say "hello."

I just bought a Desire myself. The biggest thing that drew me over the line to get one was the possibility to ust HTC sync and sync iTunes with it. But I can't get any version of HTC sync to work...? I am on Windows 7 64-bit. I am desperate. :( Been searching for over 10 hours.

    Hi,

I am on Windows 7 64 bit using HTC Sync the software works fine, as mine is connected to my PC as I type this.

Application - HTC Sync?for Android 2.1 or above

It even says its for Windows 7 32 and 64 bit

Yes but why doesn't the damn programme WORK?

I have problems now with the drivers it says. God damn it :s How is this possible, I reinstalled windows just for this a few moments ago! :s:s:s

"Installing drivers of Unknown Device failed"
    "USB Device Not Recognized"

What a terrible programme and smartphone this turns out to be :s and it's not even cheap but it sucks? :(

Have you enabled USB debugging on your phone when you try to connect it to your PC?

Settings > Applications > Development, and make sure the USB debugging check box is selected.

    Worked for me

Yes I have enabled it. Every logic thing you can come up with, you can be sure of it that I have tryed it already.

Only thing I find strange is that when I enter my Serial Number to download HTC Sync, I get a programme called HTC Sync Wildfire 5422 and something.. :s

Yes, I am not a novice you know. I'm not that stupid. As I said, every single logic thing you can come up with, you can be sure of the fact that I have already tryed it.

Unless I have not found that solution yet. As I said, I have been trying to get this working for over 10 hours, searching the internet and tryed every possibility I could find. No luck whatsoever.

Well cannot help you then, you might want to not talk to people like that or you may find help difficult to come by. Here's an image of mine showing it working fine, just downloaded from the link I gave you and installed

I did not meant to be rude, I'm just irritated that I spent 470 euro on a smartphone and the one thing that really convinced me to buy the Desire over an iPhone doesn't work. (synchronising with iTunes)

I am on Windows 7 64-bit and my Desire is 2.2 all original, nothing changed I just purchased the phone this morning and been trying to get HTC sync to work and get my HTC recognized by windows 7.

Ok, I am trying again now.

So I deinstalled everything of HTC including all the drivers. Connecting my Desire thru USB and Windows is searching for drivers. Now getting this:

"Device driver software was not successfully installed"

"Unidentified Device - No Driver Found"

What can I do about that? I tryed installing HTC sync but that didn't work so what else can I do?

Edit: I did what stood in the following thread and I can finally access my microsd. (http://alldroid.org/Default.aspx?tabid=40&g=posts&m=8767).

But I still can not sync with any HTC sync version I tryed. Not with the one delivered with my Desire, not with the one I downloaded from the HTC website. pff

    EDIT 2:

Great, finally got it connected with HTC Sync 3. But guess what, now I always have "unknown error occured" when trying to sync. for crying out loud.. :s

HTC Sync 3 has Wildfire in the download name but works OK for the Desire. I have it running on Win7 64 bit. I did similar problems to you while using cheap usb cables. So, here's a few thoughts:

    - did you install HTC Sync before connecting your Desire?
    - are you using the HTC supplied usb cable?
    - have to tried different usb ports?
    - have you tried deleting the device from device manager and reinstalling?

I am using win7 64 bit on both my desktop & my laptop, htc sync works fine on both with no problems at all.
Best way to install anything is by clicking right mouse & select run as administrator, also when installed right cilck the icon select properties/compatibility & tick run as administrator.
    This usually stops most problems.
