Syncronizing with FaceBook

I have the Android Motorola Milestone X through Alltel. Is there any way for this phone NOT to sync the contacts from your FaceBook account. I have hundreds of FaceBook friends and they all show up on my contacts list. Even the ones that don't have a phone number on FaceBook are showing up. I would like to be able to delete some but when I try to do that I get a message that says I have to remove them from my friend's list on FaceBook first. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

In the Facebook app under setting there is a check box for syncing the contacts. Uncheck this box.

I don't have that option in the settings tap. Any other suggestions please?

Menu>Settings>Accounts and Sync>Facebook>untick sync contacts.
