I want a good T9 soft keyboard, but am having a hard time finding one. I have BetterKeyboard, but its phonepad keyboard isn't T9. the HTC Touch Keyboard sucks because it doesn't fit the screen correctly. EvenBetter keyboard isn't that great overall. TouchPal is by FAR the best I've used, but version 1.0.0 doesn't have configuration options and landscape doesn't fit screen width. Version 1.1.0 is scaled down to about 3/4 of what it ought to be (portrait and landscape). Does anyone have a recommendation for me? Thanks! :)

I've been looking for the same thing. I mostly want it for texting which would make handcent seem like a choose choice as they promise t9 in their market description... but haven't been able to find it in the app settings... anyone else having any luck?

For a T9 keyboard when dialing you can try SuperDial...automatically searches your contacts as you type out a name on the keyboard. Just like on the BB, which I really missed before I found Superdial.

Touchpad (or is it Touchpal?) is going to be released sometime in December, I believe, and looks like it will be very good.

Downloaded this, but it doesn't seem to work with my Exchange auto-synched contacts. Is there a workaround?

Sorry. You'd have to ask the developer.

What source told you that TouchPal will be released in December?

Unfortunately, a cryptic update posted by Cootek to its forum yesterday now suggests another delay of 'several months'. It's really frustrating, because in the Windows Mobile world there are tons of good choices in keyboards yet Touchpal was by far my favorite. If Cootek could simply deliver an Android version with identical functionality to the current WM version, they'd own this market -- especially since there are so few other options for Android.

From the comments on their forum, my personal belief is that they are trying to negotiate an OEM deal with some hardware or carrier partner, and have agreed (or decided) not to release Touchpal for public sale until those talks are concluded. I have no inside knowledge; just an opinion but it would explain why it was pulled from the Market months ago with no release since then.

I've learned, though, that a good keyboard is probably the #1 most important app on the entire phone: You spend more time using it than any other, and it can make or break your entire experience. No matter how great the phone might be, a sub-par keyboard turns it into a total frustration! Between Touchpal's incredible 2 letters/key mode and its other features like the editing mode, I was far more productive on my old Omnia on WM than I am with either the hard or soft keyboards on my Droid.

    Thanks for the update.

That's disappointing...I haven't checked their site for a while, so hadn't seen that update. I can get why they want the OEM deal, but it's inconveniencing/losing a lot of potential customers along the way.

Better Keyboard has a T9 option, but the latest update has gotten a lot of complaints, so I'm avoiding it for now.

I was wondering the same thing until I just downloaded the NumberPad app. It works great for this and I haven't had any issues so far in the past two days that I've had it...

I like NumberPad too but it is missing some important features like a extended symbols keyboard, i remember the old time when you hold 1 and open a list of symbols to choose from. with Number pad u have to go to go and change keyboards... and needs multi language option, I rather have multi-language than having text prediction

Dialer One Works nice for Dialing a number, but I think what they are looking for (and so am i) is a T9 keyboard to type with like the old times
