Help Tab 2 10.1 - can't get past boot logo

So I got a used Tab yesterday. When I turn it on, it can't get past the pulsating Samsung logo.

I tried going into recovery mode and doing a reset, to no avail. i have tried download/odin mode, but my computer won't recognize the tablet when I plug it in.

Not sure what to do next- it's not my cord, I have used the cord with success previously. Any help is appreciated!

Make sure you install the Samsung USB drivers. In fact you may be better off installing Samsung Smart Switch (it includes drivers) and initiate an emergency firmware recovery. BTW Samsungs are temperamental in respect of leads (their own are wired differently) so you may need an OEM replacement
