Simple question: does anybody REALLY know when Sprint, Best Buy, Radio Shack will have more EVOs available on a regular basis. I cannot believe they are all getting away with telling the public to "check back...more are on the way". I have had mine since June 4th...my wife's device..as of today...is eligible to be upgraded without the extra charge. I'm trying to understand the business model here...but just cannot believe how poorly the marketing of the EVO is going regarding supply and demand. Unbelievable business paradigm. Do these companies really believe they are creating good-will by making us check back with them every day??

Yes, because Sprint is purposely telling the phone-genie NOT to make more EVO's so they can be stingy with this awesome device.

Trust me, Sprint is at the mercy of HTC when it comes to the Evo. Sucks, but is true.

And HTC is at the mercy of Samsung...until they get some deals going with other screen manufacturers.

We had the same sort of thing here in the UK with the Desire launch a couple of months back, it took ages for the supply chain to keep up with demand. I finally got my Desire after about 7 weeks of waiting.

I don't get why they are ever out of stock of any phone.. you know they more than likely make more than needed.

Should be a simple marketing/sales procedure for Sprint: The customer who calls and/or comes in expressing interest in buying should be called when more phones arrive. Instead, they make you call them every day. So, somebody who stumbles in...theoretically for the first time...gets the newly arrived phones ...despite the fact many of us have stopped by and called repeatedly. Bad business practices!!!

At my store, you come in to be put on a waiting list. We call you and inform you when yours has come in and you have 24 hours to come pick it up. Perhaps the store he went to did not have a waiting list? I know that at my store you cannot just walk in and get an Evo, you have to get on the list.

That's the problem, Fonseca. There is no consistent policy. I've been told that the "corporate" stores in Omaha quit adding names to their lists in June. Since then, they've gone to the procedure I mentioned above. They are making it more difficult for the more motivated EVO shopper. Why would they not make it EASIER for the shopper/customer who is trying harder?

The point is not about any one person getting the phone. It is about the way Sprint is handling this!!

that's why i left verizon and went to sprint ironically enough. when android started branching out to other carriers from T-mobile i was stoked. i had been a loyal verizon customer for YEARS. sadly, when i wanted to know what they would be offering in the way of android(even after they announced they would be carrying it) all i got was dead empty eyes and no means no. when i mentioned that other carriers would have the platform i wanted they took the abusive SO aproach. "you cant leave us.. we have the network." the sprint rep took my # and called me before the phone was released so i could come into the store and look at it. i love my hero, and my unlimited everythign plan for a lower price tag than V's limited everything plan. in fact, i've gotten a few other people to switch over, and i cant wait to see what's out in october

im honestly surprised that any sprint store is doing this. my encounters with them have pretty much been helpful, but maybe im just lucky.
