Takes way to long to chargeSupport

    My Epic Has been charging for hours now and still hasn't hit full charge. I was charging it at work all day and now when I got home. Horrible battery life and worst of all it takes insane amounts of time for it too charge. Yes I have reset my phone many times and even did a factory reset. Is this happening to anyone else? also there is small amounts of static when I talk on the phone, and my wife's sounds crystal clear. :confused:

    Two things:

    One, I noticed this as well.

    Two, try plugging it into an AC charger instead of computer USB, it still takes long, but that speeds it up

    Yeah, I have noticed this as well... My previous phone which was an HTC Touch Pro, charged alot quicker then my Epic does... Mine takes about 4-5 hours to recharge from a completely dead battery... I mean the phone itself is fantastic, but the battery life blows... Hopefully they'll release an extended battery for the Epic sometime soon...

    I turn off all apps before charging.Have email never polling ,turn wifi and GPS off.

    It'll get better over time. Let your battery completly drain a few times then charge it fully. I remember my captivate would take about 4 hours to fully charge. Still takes forever but not an eternity.

    USB charging takes for ever on every smartphone in my house (palm pre, Samsung Moment, Epic 3g, iphone 2g, htc hero)

    I have my Epic charging as I speak. Its been about 2 hours and 45 minutes since I put it on the charger after killing it and its at about 90% charge. This is pretty much on par with my Samsung Moment to be honest. Wish it was faster but hey whacha gonna do.

    I may try using my Moment charger next time to see if that one goes faster. Its not a usb to adapter type, its a true wall charger.

    I saw an aftermarket 2500 mah battery online which included a new back cover to go over the bigger battery. It's for the Galaxy S, but I assume the other Galaxy S phones use the same type of battery cover.

    I got the spare battery charger with spare battery at the sprint store when I bought my phone. I have not had to plug in my phone once since I got it. SO worth the $49 I spent on it.

    All Galaxy S don't use the same back cover, in most cases the back camera is in different position so that could mean a big difference on the case, so beware.

    my battery was down to 10% i plugged it up using an Blackberry Tour charger for an hour and 15 minutes it got up to 74%. I had the phone completely turned off. It seems like it takes forever to charge and using the Blackberry charger takes even longer.

    I turn off my phone to charge, and that seems to help charge it lot faster. Tonight I am going to try what JayC suggested, and use it down to 0% and then fully charge it overnight.

    I add an application called Battery Indicator that tells you the exact percent your battery is in, and the icon stays in the top left with the notifications. I unplugged my phone at 100% at 6:45am. It immediately drops to 97% every time I unplug it. By 7:45 I was at 80%. Its 8:30 right now and I'm at 64% so its safe to say around 8:45 I will be at 60%. 20% every hour? Whats going on? All I've done is sent maybe 5 tweets, checked a few facebook notifications, listened to 3 songs on the music player, and made 4 moves on WordFeud. Some one please help me. Give me some insight. What do I need to do to get more out of my battery.

    BTW 4G, WiFi, & GPS are all off. My Screen is set to lowest brightness. My keyboard timeout is 5 secs, the screen timeout is 1 minute, but I usually hit the side button to turn it off when I'm done.

    Riprock...I can't be certain but I think maybe you are on the edge of sprint coverage? Being on the edge of coverage drains the battery like no other because the phone has to keep trying to find a signal...

    Riprock (and any of you having issues), do this:

    from the home screen go to Menu > Settings > About Phone > Battery Use. Once you get to this screen it is best to IMMEDIATELY hit menu > refresh, or you may be looking at old data.

    I recommend putting this as a shortcut on your home screen for easy access

    This screen will tell you exactly what is using the most battery in percentages. For the Epic, and most likely any other Galaxy S, screen is going to be at the top due to the power hungry nature of the super amoled. If you're in a bad coverage area, look for "Cell Standby" in this list, click into it, and see what percentage there is of time spent without signal. If this percent is greater than 10% (especially true if it is above 50%), than this may be why your battery is draining so fast.

    ALSO to clarify...

    This past saturday I got 11 hours of moderate use without recharging during. I made a few phonecalls, did some browsing. I was monitoring the battery use screen all day...my biggest problem was being on the edge of cell coverage 30% of the day.

    I'm not using a task manager to kill apps; you don't need to, you really won't see much if any battery performance increase. I am keeping GPS, wifi, 4g and bluetooth off, and brightness down to the lowest it will go, but I do keep sync on at all times.

    I use tasker to manage my wifi/net connections to turn on/off in certain locations (it queries the network provider for general location and then looks for nearby wifi APs, way more efficient than GPS). Also I have my GPS auto turn on and off when I close or open an app that needs it.

    At this point I do very little battery configuration during the course of my day (i.e., turning on/off services or features). The only thing I toggle is brightness when I watch videos.

    If you don't have it already, seriously consider getting tasker to help you manage your battery life (among other things).

    do you have a case on your Epic? i would think swapping batteries daily, if that is what you do, gets to be a pain with a case.

    I do have a case on my phone. It isn't a pain. It would be more of a pain to always have to put my phone on a charger and wait. It takes me less than a minute. Best purchase I have ever made for a phone accessory.

    If you never had to plug your phone in would that make a difference? It makes a huge difference. I have not once had to worry about battery life and not once had to plug my phone into a charger.

    I just exchanged my phone because the battery was overheating everytime I put it to charge.. normal room temp. settings and all. The one I exchanged took about an hr charging MAX, but it did have that problem of overheating, i went ahead and exchanged it. Now the new one takes 5-6hrs to fully charge. WTH??
    :mad: I dont know what to do. I need to Contact Samsung for a new complimentary battery, this is pissing me off to have to exchange my phone and still have problems.
