    OK, I'm fed up of waiting for HTC to release a 2.1 ROM [i doubt it'll be out by Christmas TBH]. I basically want to root my Hero [Orange UK]. I am a first timer and I'm a bit worried about ending up with a

    I got some advice, read all the posts about people ( like me & Jaffa ) who have upgraded to 5.3 and cannot send MMS now. I believe it's the same for Orange users on 5.4 so far

    Orange is easier than some, its pretty easy if your fairl IT literate, follow the guide and your laughing, were here to answer any questions... Hopefully I would of sorted MMS by the time your rooted too

    I was absolutely terrified of bricking it, but as Jaffa says, if you follow the guide by Just2sexy, you'll manage it ok.

    If you follow the guide step by step, then the danger of bricking your phone should be virtually nil. I managed it ok, and I am probably the clumsiest person in the world ever.

    The only real brick oppertunities come with the radio update, but its do able if you have questions ask before you do it, read the guides, and ask questions before you start..

    And the main thing to remember with the radio update is: don't pull the battery. Because that will brick your phone.
