Root TBH New Release

Me, amature? P3Droid a pro? P3Droid is a sloppy hack... If he knew about this hole.. Why sit on it? So he could figure out a way to make people pay for it?

The implications of how VZ implemented to this pay service go deeper than P3Droid's little patch.

If you pay for this service, while you are tethered, any data going to your phone(which should be unlimited) gets counted toward your 2GB quota... Muddy water my friend. VZ need to go back to the drawing board. This stink of class action.

Still want to suckle from the teat of swine?

verizon has EVERY RIGHT to charge users to tether. data to a phone, and data relayed to a computer (or 5) are two very different things. they have been charging $30 to tether for years, and this is no different.
users who tether use far more data on average than users who dont. so, there is a CLEAR reason to charge for the ability to do so.

and, you ask, why sit on it? maybe because he was deciding whether or not it was ok to help people violate verizon's TOS, and circumvent a large mode of revenue. of course, once the cat was already out of the bag, maybe that pushed him to let his own cat out of the bag.

Anybody can look at the TBH update.zip and see what it's doing. If you know anything about the guts of the phone it will be painfully obvious that what the update.zip does has nothing whatsoever to do with FREEWell's clever trick.

That said, it is not shocking that one might assume the contrary -- given the timing. Which simply reminds us what happens when you assume.

works great. using my phone for my ps3 with no wires!!! Thanks to whoever. I really dont care who did what as long as it works. I love TBH for more than just for this. Hats off to anyone who can make money. I would LOVE to have the knowhow to do stuff like you guys do with code. I cant so i dont mind one bit for paying for yalls help. Make an app of your own with update.zips that can make my phone better and i will buy your app too!!! Stop whining and start applying. I paid full retail for this phone. If they didnt want me using it the way i do they should not have made it capable with or without hacks. $550 is ALOT OF MONEY for a phone they dont want me to use.. THANK YOU TBH I LOVE YOU!!!!!

I see Verizon getting a wif of this and shutting them down. Its one thing to make a app from scratch to work on a modded phone. Its another altogether to exploit an app preloaded on the phone to use a service you are supposed to pay for. Piiman is right, its exactly this sort of thing that causes manufacturers to lock these phones down in the first place. Cheer all you want. This is a LOSS for the modding community, not a WIN!

spot on. it wont matter much once data becomes tiered anyway. and some wonder why carriers are doing away with unlimited plans in the first place.

I understand your point, but look at how some people take advantage of tethering off the 3g... Music dwnld, playing ps3 and xbox... I think the casual user will be hooking up a laptop etc., where as a select few will be naive about over doing it.

I know we walk a thin line here. I guess I've found my proverbial line that I'm not willing to cross. And I guess its also no secret that I'm not a fan of TBH or P3 either.

well people automatically assume that when people use their phone for tethering for gaming or surfing porn they want to use 100gigs a minute. Boo for yall for real. I tether all the time and will continue to do so. I tether to my gaming console and will continue to do so. I use on average 4 to 5 gigs a month doing all of those things. My phone is my ONLY internet at home and i still only use that much. How much of your precious cable or dsl ((which i can NOT get where i live)) do you use a month? 50? 100gigs? I dont want to get into a pissing contest but dont ASSUME when someone says they use their phone to tether that they automatically use a million gigs a minute. To that person you look VERY misinformed. with pandora and youtube subscriptions alone i could use 2 gigs a month.

None of this should be about how much data you use but what's right and what's wrong. This app is just wrong legally and it's wrong for the mod community.

Well its really whatever to me anyways. BUT. I've noticed on appbrain some of u that are not liking the patch are running barnacle...gba emulators...snes emulators and so on. We all agree it is wrong to download the bios and roms if u do not own them. Im just saying its hard to pick and choose what is right and wrong. Its different for everyone. Peace out. I hope someone comes up with a way to overcome the infrastructure problem without having to mod an existing app. Maybe wifitether or barnicle will do this I. Future updates even though i dont see a difference...Loving my DX!!! Happy thoughts everyone. I don't hate anybody.. :)
