Root Terminal emulator help

Is there a difference between using a terminal emu and a file explorerer opposed to using the root explorer file manager. I don't have a pc and can't use my card on the market for paid apps at the moment because I'm BROKE!

There is a free file explorer called "ES File Explorer" (Estrongs File Explorer in the Market) that is supposedly giving Root Explorer a run for its money.

I'm guessing that you can't purchase Root Explorer, so ES File Explorer might be a good alternative for you. To use its root features, go to its menu -> Settings -> Experimental Features in Lab -> Root options.
