I'm a WM user & I'm tempted to buy the Sprint HTC Hero. Butt I must be able to tether it to my Nokia N810 as I now do with WM. Can anyone help?

    Thanks

I have a wifi tether app installed on my hero which allows me to share my broadband conenction with PC's laptops via either Bluetooth or WiFi

is this what you want to do? it works great :)

Certainly in the European Hero, tethering is supported out-of-the-box via USB cable. It's simply a matter of installing HTCSync (or at least the required device drivers) and ticking the "Mobile network sharing" option in Settings - Wireless controls.

Yes, exactly if it's not detectable by the carrier.

And for those enjoying the use of a Linux PC, I have found that by enabling the 'Shared Wireless Internet Connection' option on the Hero, my Ubuntu Karmic Koala detects the phone as a modem and automatically starts using it. The downside is you need to use the USB cable.

I am hoping that Bluetooth tethering will be coming soon (without me rooting my Hero).

I don't mind rooting. What app will work for that?

I have a US Tmobile MyTouch 3G, but for me the device was rooted using the 1 click recovery application. Don't know how if it works on the Hero. My guess is it would. A fellow forum member directed me to a great website.

Works perfectly. Can't explain the market place reviews...perhaps it doesn't/didn't work as well on a different android device.
