i was sent an address by an existing contact by text.

i have the desire and in some applications i can select text to copy and paste

i dont seem to be able to do that with text messages. seems a bit of an oversight if it is only numbers and other hyperlink type objects that can be selected --- or am i missing something.

  2. Not sure about the default message app but Handcent lets you copy the text from a text, although it only lets you copy all of the text rather than a certain bit of it, better than nothing though.

You can long press on the message and choose forward. You can copy it from there, although not ideal - its a work around.
