Texts sending as MMS

The maximum size of SMS text messages is 160 characters... make sure you keep your messages below that limit and it will always go as an sms message... some messaging apps on some phones will 'helpfully' convert them to MMS messages once they go beyond that size. It didn't used to make a difference, but Three charge quite heavily for those... and they aren't included in the bundle. There is probably a setting you can tweak in your messaging app to stop this happening.

The problem isn't the 160 character limit. Current phones can go beyond that now, sending long SMS as multipart messages which the recipient phone recognizes and rebuilds as one. The issue is that Samsung's Messaging app can only do 3 part long SMS before it converts to MMS. Other SMS apps or the stock app on some other manufacturers can do more. I've sent a 23 part SMS using chompSMS before.
