TF101 Sync IssuesSupport

    Can anyone please see if they can help me?

    I have this ASUS Transformer TF101, and have had it for some time now. When I first started playing with the damn thing, I found nothing wrong with it. It booted up just fine, it got on the internet just fine, it synced with my Lenovo running Windows7. But about after a month or two, for some weird and mysterious reason, it stopped syncing with the computer or any other computer at that. But around that timeframe, the power kept on messing up meaning it would charge if i wiggled the cord to the right but stopped charging if it laid in the other direction. So since the sync and the charging feature has to go through one port, I determined that the port hardware needed to be replaced.

    Well I ordered a new port and did exploratory surgery on the tablet basically I took it apart and when the new hardware came in, surprisingly, I changed it out. That fixed the charging issue and never had the charging issue happen again (knock on wood). But I still haven't determined why the Tablet isn't syncing with the computer. This thing not syncing like its supposed to has gotten me so upset I could just sh*t bricks.

    I've downloaded and installed the stupid USB drivers they say you need and I've installed the PC Suite but still nothing. Should I now sing to the thing because harsh language doesn't work.

    Please help.....

    You replaced hardware on the port that goes to the charging cable??

    Could be it wasn't repaired 100% right. Can you plug in the tablet to the computer and move ANY files back and forth?

    I know it is hindsight but why did you not get it fixed under warranty?

    No. You know what the computer does when you hook any device up to it?? It makes a sound and if the driver for that device wasn't installed to begin with, it would try to do it for you ~ well within Windows 7 that is. My computer wont do anything when after connecting the ASUS tablet up to it. Ive attempted to connect the tablet to other computers as well with the same transfer cable and it had the sane result.

    Now the tablet did connect a few times before I had the charging issue c one up and it stopped syncing or even connecting to the computer before the charging issue. Thats why this problem has confused me totally.

    And to throw another monkey wrench into understanding what it is that's causing this problem to happen to begin with, my roommate who has a transformer tf101 like i do has the same exact problem as well but his tablet never had a charging issue like i did. His computer also runs Windows 7 like my computer does.

    Do you think that it could be the drivers that runs on the computer that causes it not to sync or does the drivers that ASUS provide cover all that??

    I would just send the tablet to ASUS (because of the warranty) but because I took the thing apart, I would be afraid that they would catch that and say the warranty is now voided because I took it apart.

    I just don't know what to do with it anymore.

    I should have. And I would kick my own a** if I could. But I'm a teche or would like to consider myself as one because I love that field, I trained in the military and repaired air defense weapon systems for 7 years, I really thought that I would be able to figure this thing out but I can't. :)

    In my view the problem lies with the Asus and not the PC, otherwise it would work on other PCs. My tf300 (slightly different I know) works fine with Windows 7 and other people's tf101s do to. From memory I did not need to do anything to my Windows 7 laptop - it just recognised the Asus when I plugged it in and asked me what I wanted to do with it. All I needed the Asus software for was to Sync with Outlook and use splashtop IIRC.

    Have you tried a factory reset? You could also try something as simple as changing the cable in case that is at fault.

    If those do not work then I suspect there is probably a problem with the Asus. What it is I haven't a clue. And if you don't know then all you can try is getting it done under warranty and hoping they do not notice your DIY fix.

    Install the newest version of Windows Media Player- that's where the sync drivers come from. Otherwise I dunno....
