My phone seems slower, like unlocking is for sure, also switching between some screens seems slower. Using the phone doesn't feel as "smooth" as it used to.

And the screen rotation doesn't work near as good as it used to. Its often rotating to the wrong orientation on me when I'm trying to use it. It used to work pretty good.

It looks like they've made some changes to the battery charging, but its still screwed up. My phone was on the charger all night (and was not very low when I put it on, maybe 55%) and the next morning it was at 99%. I took it off the charger and in 25 minutes or so it was down to 94%. When I used to do the method of turning the phone off and charging it, it could stay at 100% for 20-30 minutes.

Anyone else notice this or am I crazy?

I noticed a couple of your problems as well, specifically the slowness. A factory reset worked for me. That procedure may help with your wonky orientation sensor (?).

Battery trick is still needed tho. Sucks

Yer preachin to the choir with me. I had ALL of these EXACT issues. I flashed a ROM ripped from the RUU and this is when the nightmare began...I then decided to wipe data/factory reset...This did not fix it yet...I then flashed Skyraider 3.0 RC3 (of course wiping data cache yet again) and still choppiness to the max! So then I wiped data cache like 6 times and loaded up Virtuous 2.5 and things have been smooth as can be!

I realize that this is all Root talk and may confuse you...I think the moral of the story is though that wiping and doinga factory reset..i recommend even backing up and wiping internal storage and the SD card...will most likely help...if it does not...the sure fire thing would be to root and install a custom ROM.

    Hope this helps brotha!

I'm not having the same issues you discussed, but I agree, all this hype regarding 2.2 has left me pretty disappointed. I have 3x as many apps open all the time (System Panel is getting a workout, but who wants to keep going in and manually shutting down apps all the time?), several apps that worked flawlessly in 2.1 are now uninstalled because of freeze issues, and other processes are actually slower. I am about to do a factory reset using AppBrain and other GREAT tips on another thread (thanks to SpinDisc in Tips and Tricks) and see if that clears things up.

But no, Froyo has not brought me Joyo. :(

I am not having any of these issues, i'll tell you my update process, this may help you solve your issues.

I was running an un-rooted, unmodified out-of-the-box HTC Incredible.

I simply downloaded the zip file from google directly, renamed it to update.zip and followed these instructions

Manually Update Your Droid Incredible to Android 2.2 (Froyo) | Android Phone Fans

After a ~10 minute install and boot cycle, my Incredible is snappier than ever.

Perhaps your issues are due to messing around with rooting?

    Agreed^^

I did the manual install and my phone is as fast, if not faster, than it was before.

My phone, too, is straight outta the box, unrooted, and got a natural OTA update.

Let me add that mine is working wonderfully since Froyo, as well.

Even after an initial concern about my battery being worse than before, I must admit, it is still the same - possibly better - the verdict is out on that one.

I have no clue why some of us are in Froyo heaven with improved features and performance while others are suffering like the OP. It could be the whole root tinkering thing, I just don;t know.

Yes, my phone seemed to take over a new life too with the 2.2 update. Here are some of my problems.

    1. Wipes out complete received email files without asking to delete them. This has happened 2 days in a row.
    2. Screen won't turn always. When it does it's backword from where it was before. Menu buttons are under my left thumb instead of right (where i perfer them).
    3. Some Loaded programs from the Market are useless now. I.E. aCar is really hard to use now. I really had grown to like that program too.

This is some of the few things i could think of quickly.

Will a factory reset help this? If so, how do i go about that? Any good tips?

I don't care too much for it either. But I do like the little up boot up process.

My phone wasn't rooted, just a stock Incredible thats only about 25 days old. I don't know what a "factory reset" is but I'll look it up and see if that can help. Hopefully that doesn't mean blowing out all my apps & settings.

I bet that if you do a factory reset you will notice a big difference. 27 hours up and my battery is at 60% now. Everything is running great in my phone.

To those of you have don't like all these apps loading up....have you ever had your phone run out of memory or refuse to load another apps because memory is full? Does your phone get unstable and crash a lot?

What happens when you load up every app on your phone?

If these things actually degrade performance and hence usability of the phone for its intended purpose, then we have a valid gripe with VZW, HTC, and Google, IMO.

So far, I have not encountered these issues, but I've only had my phone for slightly over 2 months.

I am experiencing issues with my 2.2 upgrade... I now have a loss of 3G which will not come back unless I turn airplane mode on then off again... it drops calls now a lot (I had 3 calls dropped to the same person yesterday, they were on a landline)... it's sluggish, the lock screen is a PITA now, as sometimes it won't register... I am losing interest and faith in Android...

I have factory restored my phone (which I don't think one should have to go thru all that trouble after an update) and I am STILL having these issues... I am to the point of being done.

Setting -> SD & Phone Storage
Scroll to the bottom and select Factory Data Reset. You only need to reset the phone, not the Internal Storage.

    This!!

***Guys, if we could keep the references to rooting in the main forum to a minimum it would be greatly appreciated. As you said, it can be confusing for some and we do not want anyone attempting something that they are not comfortable with that could potentially get them into trouble!

    Thanks
