I'm confused, the things in blue are not new as far as I know. Since cupcake there's been music and calendar widgets, you've always been able to download them from the marketplace, and cupcake delivered an onscreen keyboard months ago.

I'm not sure about that,
I do remember surching widgets before but the never seemed to work
Also: the g1 didn't have an onscreen keyboard till now,
Unless I missed that update

I also found another update:
The youtube player is diffrent (along with the mobile version of the youtube webpage)

Also: anybody else notice how much slower it has gotten?
The homescreen takes forever to load up amd has to load up again everytime I exit an app

I'm considering switching to cyanogen's mod

We've had an on-screen keyboard since the "Cupcake".

Some things I found with this new update...

MAPS - it keeps getting better, but it still sucks. You can now search like bus routes etc, and a whole bunch of other crap.

YOUTUBE - Different look etc.

CAMERA - It doesn't take a million years to take a picture anymore, but since I left my SD card in my old phone I can't do ish.

MARKET - Different look.

I don't know what else, but the update was cool I guess.

I wish I could find an SD though.

How come I'm the only one who didn't know there was an onscreen keyboard.
I tried to make it come up before, but it never did
I only ever saw it when I was using open home
Maybe something wrong with my phone? (Probobly not)

Also:
The bowser has also been updated (The zoom and pan interface atleast)

A couple quick questions about this. Is this update for G1 only? Has anyone gotten the update with their MyTouch? Also If I have my phone rooted can I install this update? Or will it mess things up? Thank you.

Got update on MyTouch yesterday around Noon AZ time, while i was playing tiger woods. After reboot BAM things looked a bit different but i was working so did not care too much.

Noticed market is MUCH easier to navigate,
Something with camera (dont use camera on phone anyways)
Also it feels that it is a bit faster then before. I dont know i have the same things so who knows could be me.

The onscreen keyboard was part of the 1.5 update, if you didn't get 1.5 then, no, you didn't get the keyboard. It didn't pop up automatically, you had to open up settings and turn it on the first time.

Sounds like there is something wrong with your phone, or you didn't get the 1.5 update. The keyboard, and the calendar and music widgets, and the ability to add widgets to the home screen were all part of 1.5.

Hi, I'm from Brasil, and I just got the new Donut update!

I'm having serious problems with my contacts... can anyone help me with this?

For example..
I used to store all my contacts like this:
02111-9999-5555
where:
021 - is my long distance operator
11 - is the local area code
9999-5555 - is the phone number

I used to have no problems with the Cupcake! :D

When someone call me, the G1 now shows only the number 9999-5555 not showing the contact name/photo!

The Android seems to be doing an exact search, is there a way to make a 'like' search?

This works on all phones.. do you have any help for me?

I made a test, changed 1 contact to the exact phone number, and worked, but I'm always traveling and I really need the Operator + Area code!

Tks for helping me

Only a quess ... have you try the settings in locale .. not sure if that will make a difference ....

But the 11 digit number is the typical US format like :

1 234 567 8901

@rzaratin:
You can add many phone numbers under the same contact
Click edit in the contacts page
There's a + next to their number
Click it to add a number
I sugesting having your 021199995555 syatem as the primary number and the 99995555 as a secondary number

And to everybody who is telling me that we already had all those features: I guess I really never updated it
I assumed it already had cupcake since that's what it was advertised with
But no, I have never received an update untill donut

Well... this is a solution.... but I have more than 300 contacts... and will not be fun to create a new phone number to each contact...

I'm trying to download other contact apps, but they have the same problem...

It must be a better way!

sorry on my Legit phone i have only those two options as well ... On my rooted phone i have many options ...

two are Portuguese (Brazil) and Portuguese (Portugal)

but i am not sure that those would even make a difference ...

Android is arriving officially this month in Brasil..
I have no root access... If this solution really works... maybe it's a way out!

No one else is having this trouble?
