Root The real deal on SetCPU for BB V1?

I have been reading different things, and now I am dizzy.
A: Will SetCPU work with V1 and approved kernels?
B: Will it be "killed" anymore and does the start with boot work?

I like to down clock certain times so this is important. My 1200 on V1 was sitting at 140F in the car - I down it to 800 when on the dock, so you can see my concern (and there is no failsafe built in, I think)

I'm also concerned. I had very poor battery life today and I'm not sure to put it on BB, but I think I'm going to revert back to CM. I had equally as good speed and better battery life whether it was due to more control over CPU of whatever. But, right now, I don't see the big deal.

Setcpu is working for me. i dont have the set on boot selected so i don't know if that will work. however i did notice when i use the standby profile to throttle it down my phone will random reboot.

It's working perfectly for me. I have it set to load on boot and I have my profiles set up. It's working exactly like it did on every other ROM I used it on. No worries!!!

I also have had no problems with SetCPU. Just installed it on Bekits 800mhz kernel and it works just fine. I'm also using profiles and such.

Gave it a try and it's all good. Just really hot at 1200 - 137 - 141 under pretty good load.

Working fine for me. Have you updated to the newest version of SetCPU? I think there was an update today or yesterday.

BB 1.0 was more than worth the wait. CM was nice and everything, but this release is so much faster for me and just feels like it "fits" the Droid better. As nice as CM was, it still had some weird quirks that bothered me and don't seem to exist with Pete's ROM.

Setcpu 1.52 didn't work for me but 1.51a did

This is what I got from it... I think pete basically integrated his setcpu settings into the system, so you should be good to go without setcpu. However, I too have times when I need to clock down (ex- gps in the car) so I keep setcpu on my droid just for those occasions

SetCPU gave me an issue initially when I had dl'ed the 1Ghz Bekit kernel to replace the 600Mhz one that came with NexBeast V1.0.. it wouldn't recognize the profiles I had set.

Did a reboot and it seemed to do the trick..

I've deleted the "pete" file from xbin now, because I definitely want to have SetCPU run my profiles and this will eliminate any opportunity for conflicts.

How did you try to delete it? I just navigated to /system/xbin in Root Explorer, tapped the Mount R/W button, scrolled down to "pete" and hit delete.

how are you trying to delete it? if you use root explorer you need to hit the mountR/W button at the top to give permissions to edit files.

Astro doesn't have root permission, so that won't work. The easiest way is to use Root Explorer.

Nevermind, figured it out. Astro doesn't have super user privileges. Downloaded Android Mate and deleted it successfully

I ended up deleting the file myself hoping it would help on battery life through custom profiles. However, I'm still getting the reboots that I was used to on Pete's ROMs (via unmounting SDcard and booting, it generally goes twice). No error for deleting it though.

Deleting mine hasn't created any problems I can ascertain. Did you back up before making that change (it's a good practice to ALWAYS back up before making system changes)?

i'd say its always safer to just MOVE the file and not DELETE it. move it to your sdcard or something, that's what i did. or just renaming it is an option also.
