If you were expecting any new news, this isn't that kind of thread. However, I have a theory that the HTC Incredible and the Nexus One will most likely be sold on the same day.

Verizon has stated they won't sell the Nexus One, as it'll only be available online. This would make sense that HTC would sell the Incredible on the same day that the Nexus One goes on sale online, putting consumers into a decision about which device to get.

HTC wasn't a huge fan of Google's strategy to sell online, so it would make sense for them to offer a device when Google offers Nexus One with Verizon.

    Anyone agree / disagree?

from htc's point of view, i can see this coming true, but its unlikely verizon will allow this as it will split their sales into two phones. sounds good to be though, but it would be a hard decision to decide which one to get

It might split there sale between two phones but it will still make the same amount if not more since some people dont want or need a physical keyboard and want a screen larger then 3.2". You add the sales of the two phones and there making breaking even or ahead

How do you know HTC wasn't a big fan of the online sale? Its my understading they gave their OK to the Nexus One being all Google.

Are you talking about the devour....

I could definitely see Verizon throwing out the Incredible on the same day as the N1 or even before. I would think they would want to capture as many of those potential sales with their own high-end device rather than let those customers wander to google's site.
It might not happen till early April if this has anything to say about it, Verizon rebate form shows Motorola DEVOUR and Casio Brigade (Phone Arena News) , tho I know that can always be updated if devices are added in a month.

Well, the rumor was the Nexus One would hit Verizon on Mar 23, two days into the Spring. The Verizon rebate form shows no sign of any HTC phone through Mar 31. I personally dont' foresee Verizon lining up the release of potentially competing devices in any way, shape, or form. Inventory orders are placed with sales projections in mind, and when you have another similar phone from a sales channel where you don't control the inventory, it doesn't make good business sense to line up a launch from a business standpoint. Generally, they don't release more than one phone at a time if you look at historical trends. They released the Eris and Droid together, but that was an initial Android launch of two phones that were designed to appeal to two types of users. It looks like the Nexus One and Incredible will be pretty close in specs.

Except wouldn't Verizon only being making one order of inventory? Verizon doesn't have to worry about sales projections of the Nexus One as the only numbers from the N1 that will affect them are the subscriptions. Also when is the last time they had 2 phones ready to go at the same time and purposefully delayed one?

They would worry about the sales projection of the Nexus One because it would impact their own sale of the Incredible. I think that's quite relevant. You don't over order inventory because that's negative cash on the books. The trick is to project sales and carry just enough inventory to satisfy demand. I can't answer your second question. Releasing a phone from the testing phase to the sales phase is arbitrary. I'm certain their tactics are such that they probably never put themselves in such a situation. Extending testing could be synonymous with delaying release.

I agree with the OP. It seems to me that VZW would want to offer thier phone to compete with the N1 offered by Google. It is only 1 SKU that they will be inventorying and advertising to sell. I would think that they would want to bite into the N1 sales as much as possible by introducing a phone which they fully subsidize, and can profit from. So with this being said, it would make sense to release it as close to the N1 release as possible, if not before.

This is an interesting proposition! This might be one way that VZW proves to Google that traditional brick-and-mortar does work and works better. Look to VZW putting a nice little campaign behind the device.

NEW FROM VERIZON WIRELESS... THE HTC DROID INCREDIBLE.

I don't know how the Nexus One impacts the Incredible at all. Nexus one don't get purchased by Verizon, and they will only result in a net gain from subscriptions. Verizon has shown they can market a device like mad, so I would guess they start a campaign similar to the Droid and run it for 2 weeks then launch. Let Google do the leg work for the N1, just give N1 customers the option of using their network. The N1 is just gravy for Big Red.

If Google doesnt have a real(TV) advertising campaign for the N1...the only people that will know about it is geeks like us(and our friends/family).

Lets face it, the average consumer is not goign to buy an N1 online because they saw it on a banner ad...they will go into the VErizon store to check it out and VZW will show them the Incredible!

No specs have been released yet. That is all rumor and probably not correct. All we really know is there is a phone looking somewhat like the one in the leaked video with the Verizon splash screen. The same phone that just popped up in their inventory system. No specs yet. I highly doubt it will have such a low level of ram or that screen and go by the name, "Incredible".

Good Post, we don't need any incorrect information floating around from people who haven't been keeping up with the thread to know that the chances of it releasing with 256 is slim to none.

I am sure hoping!!! there is no point in vzw putting out a phone half as the n1! I must have missed the rumored part....how ever though as I keep reading articles...I get more worried! Plain and simple 256 mb is not enough for 2.1 and Sense IU.

I just had the Nexus One in my hand here at work it was the first time I have seen one in person since we don’t get AT&T or T-Mobile service here. Some people who are partners of the company I work for are from Norway and they ordered the Nexus Ones here so they wouldn’t have to pay the tax and duties on them to get them shipped over since they are here at least once a month or ever other month. Still don’t know why they wouldn’t want to wait for the desire. After seeing them and holding them if the Incredible comes out and is anything less then Incredible (which I doubt) I would be perfectly fine with picking up a Nexus One they are very nice.
