Any thoughts? What say the developers? Are you guys close to getting the 2.1 leak rooted or are we still a ways out?

Thanks for all the hard work guys!

Cause speculation always helps. Why do you people keep making these threads. They said that its being worked on. Give it a rest already or post in one of the other hundered 2.1 leak is it rooted yet threads.

When it gets rooted, they will start a new thread stating "2.1 leak has been rooted"

This video will forever be my response to this question.

I will say Paul O'Brian's Desire and Legend Root has perked my interested more in rooting 2.1 on the Eris, but we are no closer until we fully know what he did, or some local exploits are discovered.

I wasn't asking if it's been rooted, it's obvious it has not.

I was trying to find out if it's close, and if it may be this week?

I have no clue how long these things take. Are we months out, weeks, or days. Or can you even gauge progress on something like this.

There is no 10-step process to rooting a phone. They don't KNOW if they're close in many cases... In some instances, people stumble onto a method.

It's a research project, it will happen when it happens. We get asked daily this question.

I feel dumb... I thought 2.1 was already rooted... I used uhe all in one 2.1 root in the sticky. Are ya talking a "newer" 2.1 or maybe the official 2.1? THanks.

2.1 was rooted but if people flashed to the leak or v2, they cannot root. That is what this person is talking about.

SIDE NOTE: Just like others have said, stop posting crap like this because its not like the devs arent trying. Its just like a Dr trying to find a cure for AIDS or cancer. Just cause they aint found one, doesnt mean they aint trying. SO STOP BEING SO F'IN DUMB AND POSTING 10000 POST ABOUT THIS (not talking about you ussj4, the OP of this thread is who i meant my side note for)

The 2.1 root ROM ONLY works if you install it on a phone running android 1.5 (the original os the phone ships with.) Once the 2.1 root ROM is installed, your phone is rooted and has an android 2.1 os on it. You CANNOT install the 2.1 rooted ROM on a phone that already is running a version of android 2.1.

    Great explanation droidkevlar.

A watched pot is in direct correlation to a lack of boiling.
Just put a lid on and trust me, you'll know when it's done.

Thank you dev's for your tireless and unpaid efforts towards all the glorious things which we know nothing of.

Great first posts by the way

.. try reading a little and contributing to OTHER threads and you may, just MAYBE get a little more insight as to what's going on in the 2.1 leak root status or the eris/android community as a whole.
