So I have been lurking for a while now, I am ready for an upgrade in 2 days.
I currently have a BB storm 1 and am seriously considering the Moto Droid. My wife has had the Eris for about 3 months and loves it, I like it also but like the bigger screen & more HP of the Droid.

Can the Droid do the following? I uses the features/apps on a daily basis.

    • Is there a good podcast app? I use Podtrapper now and love it
    • Is there a way to Back up your Droid, all files, pictures, music etc to a pc?
    • Is there a good media sync program for music, movies, etc. from a pc?
    • Any good Running/Biking GPS apps for tracking mileage, calories, etc
    • I know at first there was some issues with Yahoo mail is this fixed now?
    • Is the keyboard really that bad? I have played with it several times and it is different and not the best but with anything new there is always a learning curve. ( I know this first hand from typing on the Storm ; )
    Thanks

I went from the storm 1 to the droid, and I am happy that I did. The droid is 100 times the phone the storm was. As far as a podcast App im not sure, but i would imagine there are many of them. You can back everything up and the keyboard is much better than the storms. Hope this helps.

    • Is there a good podcast app? I use Podtrapper now and love it --- I saw a few on the Android Market, boith free and for pay. It's a pretty long list. You can go to www.androidmarket.com (I am 99.9% sure that is the URL) and look. it's not a complete list, but it will give you an idea.
    • Is there a way to Back up your Droid, all files, pictures, music etc to a pc? I have seen several that back up to the SD card, which you can then backup to your PC...
    • Is there a good media sync program for music, movies, etc. from a pc? I saw one called the missing sync (LOL)
    • Any good Running/Biking GPS apps for tracking mileage, calories, etc One of the things i did see alot of were pedometer apps and gps related mileage and speed apps.
    • I know at first there was some issues with Yahoo mail is this fixed now? I don't use yahoo for email...so I don;t knoiw. I would suggest moving to gmail or google apps for a better expereince.
    • Is the keyboard really that bad? I have played with it several times and it is different and not the best but with anything new there is always a learning curve. ( I know this first hand from typing on the Storm ; ) I actually haven't used the keyboard yet (I got my droid 3 days ago). I have been using the on screen keyboard which works pretty good...even while chatting (though I am a bit more typo prone and sometimes the autosuggest gives you some odd suggestions.
I came to the Droid from a Treo 700 and I am loving it so far. I just wish I better reception in my house.

I went directly from and S1 to the Droid also. You will not be disappointed and I loved my Storm with a passion.

    Market results for...

    Podcast:31 Recommend LISTEN^

Backup:129 Sprite Backup is only $.99!

Media Sync:NA I use drag and drop..

Running: 434 (vague) RUNNER looks pretty good

Yahoo:Sucks , I have it forwarded to my Google account. I have been trying to cut my ties with Yahoo for close to 2 years now.

Keyboard is 10 times better than the S1 hardware keyboard ;) Seriously , its not bad, it grows on you pretty quikly but the soft keyboard is honestly so good I use it 9 times out of 10 over the hard keyboard anyways.

If you want to get a feel for the Android market and whats available check the androlib

Get your google account first. Then go into that account's settings and tell it to pick up mail from your yahoo account. You'll get an email on your yahoo account (from Yahoo) asking for verification. After you do that you'll never have to login to yahoo again.
You can tell your google account whether to use the yahoo account or the google account as a return address.

i had the Storm1, then a Tour and now the Droid.

without a doubt, the Droid crushes the Tour and obliterates the Storm1.

personally- i use the physical keyboard quite a bit and find it very comfortable and cant complain.
